I remember the teenage and also in my 20's years when we had a strip at what used to be called Hull and it was called Prom Du Portage where we had a cluster of dance bars where after 10:00 pm the street was packed with people and the bars packed with some beautiful girls and guys seeking girlfriends or just a dance. The two best I remember were ZAP which later moved up the road to CITY CLUB. Wow good old days. They closed down everything some time between 1994 to 1999 when I was in Montreal for study.

Anybody knows what are the best dance bars these days in 2017?, where you can go Friday and Saturday nights and dance with ladies (for me 19 to 29 is the ideal choice but I never say no to those attractive and in their 30's or even still attractive 40's either). Please name your suggestions and advice as where the best Ottawa or Gatineau dance bars (or pick up places where ladies come to find dates) are. Just to clarify Please note I am asking for info on DANCE bars.

Thank you very much in advance.

I would not recommend hull for dance clubs. (Younger crowd, under aged)
But I hear the Casio has a dance club in the casino. It might be good.

The places in ottawa that i know are mostly in the market.

For a Saturday or Friday night I would recommend heart and crown. It is big, relaxed atmosphere, and has a dance floor, always packed on the weekend.

Other places I remember being busy were whisky bar, sky bar, people.

Elgin street is also busy. Lieutenant pub, and standard.

Kanata has crazy horse.

Hi sweety :)

Hull :
Ou quoi : Live music and 2steps (literally two foot steps away) is an other club that focus more on dance and Dj..
It is In "Le vieux Hull"
You also have a variety of restaurants all around to end the night when you are done dancing and drinking ..

Alea : Located on the second floor at the Casino it is a tiny danse bar but it seems to be very popular.. I think this week is a special about the 80´s ..

Ottawa :
Downtown you can go from one bar to the other one by walking since they are very close to eachother .. You pretty much go around , feel the vibe and get to the next one if you don't feel it ;)

Thank you so very much Alison. You are a sweetheart :).
I made a note of your recommendations and will definitely act on them. Any idea what time would be best to be there weekends when action (dancing) starts? It used to be 9:00 pm in Ottawa and 11:00 pm in Hull in the old days (Ottawa bars were closing at 1:00 am and Hull at 3:00 am those days).

Best regards and thanks again.

Thanks I followed up on advice. Once I came out of Barefax I heard loud music coming from nearby building and I followed the crowd into a cool dance bar. It was a great bar and lots of people were hugging and kissing each other (though not exactly the type of hugs and kisses I had in mind lol but who cares). Lots of beautiful ladies and I had a feeling quite a few ladies there nay have liked me there too from the looks I received though I was taken by a bit of surprise I wasn't sure how to react in this type of bar. This bar (not sure what is its name) is highly recommended for those who are nice hearted and open minded and believe in live and let live. Not a place for dark hearts and the hateful stay away. Great bar with very pretty ladies and very friendly crowd. I never thought such a cool place existed in Ottawa I may come back again soon though will be looking for ladies only if I do. On my way to parking lot I came across another bar with frown thick security guards at the door and a big lineup right after Dalhousie on York Street. I decided to pass on this one.

Right next to Barefax is probably the Lookout. I think it's Ottawa oldest and most well known Homosexual bar. I know many straight girls hang out in those places though.

Thanks. I didn't see any sign but I think you are right. Also I think you are right about straight girls being there as I did receive a few smiles and looks there from a few girls at least (unless I imagined them) but never responded as I was not prepared for it. That said some girls were indeed VERY pretty. I will go back at a later date and will try to connect with straight or bisexual girls. Sexual orientation does NOT matter to me at all and always it is the size of the heart and mind rather than skin color, race or religion or orientation that matters to me. That said the ladies should like me though just saying.
