Do these two "rich Senators" know that Americans are NOT "Joe The Plumber", but "Bob The Builder"? For 30 minutes, they argued who is a bigger baby for saying bad things. CBS' Bob Shitter has got to go. He started it and turned it into some "pro-Republican" BS. Just like Bush Jr. x Kerry. Bob Shitter did it there too.

Canada: Con minority. Told ya.

I didn't see these two debate before so I'm surprised to say I believe McCain won hands down.

I want to see McCain vs Biden now, and Obama vs Palin.
Perhaps those would be more evenly matched.

Thought it was a good debate. McCain did much better than the previous two. Obama played defense to avoid a mistake. McCain did better at the start, but couldn't hold it at the end. I don't think it will make a difference in the election.

I don't think they should have spent 30 minutes on who is a bad person and who is not. That A*hole question that Bob Shitter (Shaeffer) dished out was a typical Republican style "gotcha" with no basis or reason to ask it to help the American people. The stock market crashed again, no one has any money, no one has a job and Bob Shaffer wants to ask (for 30 minutes) who likes to play tag.

Bob Shitter hangs around Republicans all the time. He MUST be removed from the US media. He's an old man that needs a punch in the nose.

Round 3 ... three words:

Joe The Plumber

Performance wise , McCain's best, of the 3.
Having said that it ain't the break through debate McCain needed. Other than that, same old. Obama could have been more on the offense IMO.

What's with McCain's new smile and lit up eyes ?

Obama wins all 3 debates

This was McBush at his best but Obama still came across better.
Since the OLD fart is now losing by double didgets, he had to come out swinging and did but Obama easily defended himself remaining cool, calm and collected while McBush attacked away.
After all McBush said he was going to 'kick his *** tonight'
....well the OLD fart did bug his eyes out at Obama plenty tonight.....

The GOP tonight introduced us to yet another character, Joe the Plumber! Add him to Joe Six-pact, Hockey moms and Soccer moms, etc., ad nauseum.....it really gets pretty comical how out of desperation they feel the need for these gimmicks! You almost think they are being directed to do this by El Rushbloe and his 'dittohead' team!
It's soooo Limbaughesque....

I found it interesting how obvious McCain is in his dislike of Obama. His grimaces hurt him. Just another grumpy old man.

McCain should have demonized Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic congress of the past two years. Even I, a Liberal Democrat, would have agreed with him.

HEMPSTEAD, New York (CNN) -- A majority of debate watchers thought that Sen. Barack Obama won the third and final presidential debate, according to a national poll conducted at the end of the debate.

Fifty-eight percent of debate watchers questioned in the CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll said Democrat Obama did the best job in the debate, with 31 percent saying Republican Sen. John McCain performed best.

The poll also suggested that debate watchers' favorable opinion of Obama rose during the debate, from 63 percent at the start of the debate to 66 percent at the end of the debate. The poll indicates that McCain's favorables dropped, from 51 percent to 49 percent.

The poll was conducted by telephone with 620 adult Americans who watched the debate. The audience for this debate appears to be a bit more Democratic than the U.S. population as a whole. Forty percent of debate watchers in the poll were Democrats and 30 percent Republicans. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points

According to the statements made by Obama and even McCain, Joe the plumber would be one of the 5% of Americans who would see a tax increase. Obama has said, that only those whose income exceeded $250,000US will see an increase in taxes.

I cannot believe that McCain tried to equate Joe the $250,000/year small business owner as someone that most Americans can relate to. I have not checked the facts, but I do believe that those earning $250,000 + per year in the U.S.A are in the top 5 or 10% of wage earners in the USA.

How come none of the analysts picked up on that one. I don't know why Obama did not just point out that while its great that Joe makes 250K/year, he still represents the upper end of the economic scale, not the lower end.

Well McCain has voted not to raise the min wage 19 times. Is Joe upset he might have to pay his workers an honest wage if Obama gets in and have health care for his workers too.

One house by me has two McCain signs, he owns a landscaping company, his workers are all Mexican and other foreigners--maybe even some illegal's, I am sure they earn less wages for their hard work as they should be getting and have no health care insurance.

Maybe this is what small business earning under $250,000 in profits each year might be worry about. They might have to pay their workers a few dollars more and there be less foreigners to hire.

My take, for what it's worth

Best debate of the three. I think Schieffer's questioning was pointed and clearly designed to get to the core beliefs of both men. Also, the format whereby the candidates could go toe-to-toe with each other was a vast improvement over the other two formats.

McCain's dislike of Obama is clear, though his barbs pretty much bounced off Obama. Depending on how you look at it, that could be good or bad for Obama who may have come across as a bit smug.

Best line of the debate was from Obama: "John, 100% of your TV ads are negative." Direct hit. Obama has tapped into the feeling that the Republican campaign is just over-the-top nasty and the American people are pretty sick of it.

Biggest falsehood: When McCain said that small companies that refuse to adopt Obama's healthcare plan, they will be fined. The Democrat plan explicitly exempts small business from that requirement.

Biggest gaffe: When McCain said that he would always work to protect the rights of the unborn.

That sound you heard was the collective gasp of people right across the country who are concerned that a McCain government would somehow be involved with a decision made between a woman and her doctor.

To his credit, McCain did land some punches, especially on campaign finance. But in the waning days of his waning campaign, he needed a clear knock-out. He didn't get it.

Advantage: Obama.

McCain looked angry and fidgety, like a guy who can't control his temper. The close ups are not kind to McCain. Obama looked presidential again.

The knockout punch was not McCain's stupid line about not being George Bush but Obama's line about the American people not caring about "our feelings". Jesus, McCain's like a petulant child.

Barring a terrorist attack, we will have the first black president in a few weeks. Whoot.

The CNN lines were interesting. Most of the time that McCain spoke, the male line was well above the female line...and....most of the time that Obama spoke, the female line was well above the male line.

Not sure what that means, other than, Obama is going to win in a landslide on November 4th. :)

P.S. I watched most of the debate, missed a few moments, but from what I saw, McCain did not once say "my friends." He must've been really pissed!

(I noticed Fox doesn't seem to publish debate poll results anymore...lol)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the most interesting things I read was that 66% of those polled believe that Obama will raise their taxes...and apparently don't care. It would seem that they have brought into exactly Obama's message - that we are in an economic crisis, and getting out of it will come with a price, but what we can't do is the SAME OLD THING. What did McCain preach? More trickle down economics...what is good for the rich and corporations (and small businesses whose owners make more than 250K a year), is good for the average American, who is was recently documents has an income of less than 33K.

Much...MUCH....to my surprise, it appears the American people are FINALLY waking up. For years I have been saying that the Republicans served the rich while pandering to the working and middle class, telling them that all of their problems were caused by the poor and minorities. That all of the sound bite slogans of the past..."tax and spend"..."big government"..."America First" are finally falling on deaf ears.

They watched as the current Republican over saw to creation of the biggest budget deficit in U.S. history, oversaw the biggest government expansion in U.S. history, and orchestrated the biggest foreign policy intervention in U.S. history. And now they can see that the new Republican not only has no actual solutions to the problems, but is advocating more of the same...don't raise taxes on the rich...make sure we win the war...less regulation and government involvement is good (how did that work for Wall Street?)

The thing is TRUE conservative principles such as moderate spending and smaller government DO make sense. Accordingly, it was the Republican members of congress who rejected the first bail out package- they FINALLY found their true Republican voices.

But this isn't what Bush has been practicing for the last eight years. And the American people have finally figured that out...
