Used ot happen in the Peel GTA area clubs way back as well.
I was at the post closing auction when Kennedys closed.
And swung by the next day on my way to another meeting to see what might have been tossed aftet the auction.
In the dumpster there were 4 big water guns - ala super soakers.
They were coated in kitchen fume grease though, so I can see why they did not auction them. Must have been stored somewhere up high where the grease could settle and condense.
I took them home and in my otherwise empty dishwasher I loaded them in, then added lots of detergent and set it for pots and pans.
They came out fine.
I use them on my patio to 'disssuade' blue jays from raiding the chickadee nest boxes mounted on the side of the house next door.
I also came away with a box with about Kennedy's branded 200 paper match books.
Now that dated me, because I can almost can recall when you could still smoke in a bar, so match books were a valid marketing give away.
