Just waiting for the other shoes..(NFL..MLB..NHL..WNBA..NCAA)DROP!!!
There have already been a few. Last season that Raptor got a life-time ban, and there was a kid on the Senators a couple of years ago who got a big suspension. The NBA had that ref that rigged games due to his gambling debts. Baseball players should know betting leads to the baseball death penalty, and has for over 100 years, yet Ohtani's translator/best friend got nailed for illegal betting, which might be just a little too close for comfort....

Legalized betting raises questions about the integrity of these sports leagues, the officiating and I think it could cause major issues down the line.

I'm not a gambler. I think the opening up of sports betting is going to ruin families. I already know someone who lost their house because of it, and it annoys me that ever third ad during a hockey or baseball game is about Bet365 or another online casino. But, with the amount of money the teams/leagues are making from it, I cannot say I'm shocked...

I think this is only the beginning..Anyone who can affect the outcome of a sporting event...from officials..to
The player who
hits a goal post
Drops a pass
Missed an open net
Strikes out
walks in a run
Airballs a 3-pointer...the list goes on.
The entire sports industry is under a microscope!

My understanding is that at Ontario casinos, a gambler can ask to be blacklisted. However, they can also revoke that blacklisting and go right back and gamble. My sister had a friend who went to the University of Windsor back when that casino just opened. He worked there and told stories of people literally putting the deeds for their houses up as collateral, and losing everything. Casinos and sports betting places pay a lot of lip service to trying to help problematic gamblers...but, really, they don't give fuck as long as they make a buck...

Yeah had friend of mine who got himself put on the list to be blacklisted at his favourite casino in Niagara Falls..He was 21 at the time..If I remember he won 80k one night, went out and bought a 20k Rolex. Then lost everything back the next night.

Just to clarify, did he ask to be blacklisted, or did the casino blacklist him for winning? I was talking about problem gamblers who ask to be blacklisted so they don't ruin their lives more...but, they also have the ability to ask to be removed from this black list. My understand is that big winners at casinos are very rare, and the casino usually celebrates them (because it shows the other sucker er gamblers that you can win...), they would only blacklist you if they thought you were cheating/counting cards (which apparently is legal, but frowned upon).

The worst thing that can happen is a big win the first time a person gambles, especially in a casino.

It's like "Where has this been all my life?", and many get hooked into a gambling addiction...

Given how much money the NHL is bringing in alone due to sports betting, this isn't going anywhere any time soon. Just look at the salary cap, it was $88 million last year. This year it went up to $95.5 million, next year it's projected to go up to $104 million and $113.5 million the year after

IMO that's where that phrase "kept chasing that feeling" came from....
