hi guys,

i have a weird dilemma .. i started my MP hobby recently and work as a sales rep for a company that is doing a trade show. the show involves suppliers that display their goods for the buyers.

i was outside for a smoke when i was approached by a buyer, he mentioned that he bought from the company that i worked for a long time ago. we made some small talk about the weather, the city and all that bs. He flew in for the show and said he was staying for a few days.

he peppered the conversation with small jokes, such as he 'misbehaves' when hes in town. i said i may eventually have to do trips as well, maybe even to the city he lives in.. he said he could show me around the 'whores' etc. but always laughed and said just kidding. he also asked if i have a gf and i said no..

anyways he said if i was free to grab a beer i could give him a call on monday as after the shows he doesn't have anything to do.

afterwards i was really confused.. ive heard of some sales reps wining and dining buyers and perhaps taking them to SPAs (i dont know if they are legit ones or not). this guy can probably do some business with me, but does he want me to show him a good MP? if this is what he wants, how do i know for sure? and if i take him to one, do i have to pay? whats the procedure for this kind of stuff? if i take good care of him perhaps i can get a really good sale from this guy.

i enjoy my hobby, but sharing it with someone else? i dont think i even want to be in the car with someone who just 'finished' if i have to drive him back to his hotel.

Hey, just about EVERY trade show I ever attended (and I did a LOT) the guys in town want to play.

Just because you know where places are, or where to look for sp numbers doesn't mean YOU actually partake......

I was in Montreal and my client asked about where the local chapter of AA was, I looked it up in the phone book and gave it to her when we went for dinner. Doesn't mean I WENT to the meetings......

Capice?

ok so how do i know for sure if he wants me to look up something for him? does he have to explicitly ask for it?

thanks for the advice, i should have known that a lot of people want to play. it just threw me off a bit.

So take him out for a beer on Monday, and see how it goes. Don't do anything that you aren't comfortable with. But if the guy isn't a complete jerk, and there is some trust there, you might feel okay talking about these sorts of things with him. If not, and he is hinting around, tell him to check the back of NOW mag. Or tell him one of the guys that you used to work with was always "whoring around" (to use his expression) and mentioned terb. Leave it at that. But if he can help you with a big sale, you might try cutting him a little bit of slack. It might not turn out so bad.

errrrrrrrrr......

the only thing that might hint to that is that he asked if i had a gf.. but i thought maybe that would have given him a idea if im up for 'whoring'.. but then again people with gfs/wives do it all the time.

edit: anyone else think the same way as ballz?

I'm still shock by the type and number of guys today who seem to be bi-sexual, it seems harder today just to hang out with a guy and party without getting the feeling they are hoping it go father :(

jesus, just because he's alone in town, might be looking for some GIRL action, shoots the shit with a guy, doesn't mean he's fricken GAY or BI.

Shit, I travelled for almost 2 yrs straight and I'd meet all kinds of people in airports, outside the halls having a smoke, in restaurants etc. and on more than a few occasions ended up hanging with them for a night.

That's what people do when they're on the road: hang out.

I'm pretty straightforward though. If I wanted to know where a good strip club was, I'd just ask.

I remember a peeler gave me a ride home from a club one night and she told me about the other clubs to go to. Did it make her lesbian? NO.....

I have taken clients to SP's and MP's. When I do, I usually book the appointment, drive to the location, hand them the envelope with the cash and send them on up. Only do that with guys that I know will enjoy it, and in return will continue to give me business.

I will say you better be sure he is the type to thank you for it, could turn ugly if he is the evangelical type. Also you better pick the reliable ladies that give a good session 99% of the time. Even makes me feel good about my own hobbying, I do it all for quality control purposes. I only want the best for my clients.;)

That makes it a genuine business expense. Hope you're claiming it!

Well, that's the beauty of paying via a CC, you get a receipt. (and it IS an elligiable business expense if you pay for it for a client).

The wings and beer is a good idea and then suggest a strip club afterwards. You could always drop a hint like "I have heard that some offer take out"? Take out? He'll say? "Yeah, I heard that you can find girls that will come home with you...never done it myself..." and that could lead to play for pay discussions.....

Take him out to a SC, he will get very loose with a couple of drinks (make sure your not the one getting loose) and you will get a pretty good feel for direction from there. If he's american he will love our SCs. This has worked for me several times. SC are usually enough, most guys are just big talkers about how bad they are, but if you got the real deal and money may come in, graduate him to MP or SP. You'll have a client for life.
