Weird bug in my Andrew Blake downloads?

Here I am again asking you techies for solutions...

I have what I think is a weird bug on some Andrew Blake movies (I happen to like his past work) that I downloaded using Torrents about two years ago.

They were working fine but, until recently, I had not accessed them for about a year... now 3 of them will no longer upload and hang the media player. Several others shut down both the player and the Windows Explorer through which I accessed the file if I use the fast forward feature on the player.

What the fuck is going on?

Can anyone give me a clue and how I can fix the issue?

Were they burned to DVD? If they were they may have become corrupt and no longer playable. DVDs you burn have a history of not lasting as long as CDs you burn.

No... they were in my D drive... and backed up to an external drive, and those files seem corrupted, too...

Try using VLC media player it usually plays anything. it could be a video codec issue you are experiencing.

That did the trick!

Must have been a codec issue... but am surprised that updates on Windows Media Player, RealPlayer and DivX are not backwards compatible...
