prEP is a treatment to prevent HIV, we should all be taking it if we continue to remain sexually active. HIV is no longer a gay disease, more straight men and women are getting HIV. With OHIP and insurance from your work benefits prEP can be free or cost very little per month. Using prEP and condoms we are much safer in this hobby. You can stop taking prEP when you are no longer sexually active, like quitting the hobby.

prEP helps prevent HIV not other STDs, so prEP and condom use is still going to be used in this industry.

GTA & Thereabouts...
What makes more money? Potentially selling prEP to the sexually active which would require advertising or selling HIV drugs to HIV patients on the Government's dime without spending a dollar on advertising?

Thanks for sharing. Always good to take precautions. Are there any negative side effects with the medication? I'm probably not the target market but useful for other folks.

If you are heterosexual and male and using condoms you dont need PreP.

PrEP is for people who do not have HIV but are at risk of getting HIV through sex or injection drug use.

Specifically, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that PrEP be considered for people who are HIV negative and who have had anal or vaginal sex in the past 6 months and:

PrEP is also recommended for people without HIV who inject drugs and:

  • have an injection partner with HIV, or
  • share needles, syringes, or other equipment to inject drugs.
PrEP should also be considered for people without HIV who have been prescribed non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) and:

  • report continued risk behavior, or
  • have used multiple courses of PEP.

Should wives of hobbyists take prEP if their husbands don't?
I suppose they don't use condoms to have sex at home.

If it's not going cost you anything then why not have the extra layer of protection. Do you guys think using condoms is enough protection from HIV?

The girl needs to have untreated HIV and you need to have unprotected sex in order to get it. How likely is that?

Even if the girl is HIV+ but is on retrovirals and has an undetectable viral load, HIV won't transmit even with unprotected sex.
