So, I was in Vienna last month.
I was staying in the old core. One street, Seilerstatte
has three clubs, as well as 2 more on Schelinggasse and one on Kruger.
Rush Hour, The Big Apple, and another are clearly
owned by the same people. The Bunny Club on Kruger, has a similar menu, but different prices.
The beer for me is slightly expensive at 7 euros. Then things get worse.
a) the "go-go" girls, have to dance for 10 minutes
every hour or so. This has nothing to do with
songs. They basically strip down to panties
before going on stage. It isn't interesting, no
tease, no fun. They are just there.
b) they come and sit with you. But to stay, you
have to buy them champagne. The "picolo" (375ml) is
only 78 euro (65 at Bunny). They'd rather you
bought a 1.5L one at 300 euros, so that they
can take you to a private room.
c) You can get a "table dance" for 35 euros.
(yes, that's $50CDN). That's for one song.
No touching, no grinding.
On the otherhand, the girls (all ex-eastern-block
from what I can tell) are paid a wage - they claim they are not given commission for the champagne. I find that hard to believe. They are intelligent, and actually are fun to talk to.
I did get sucked into buying two picolos.
The World Sex Guide is pretty accurate, except that the prices are now in euros not ATS. A factor of 15 or so. SOZ is easy to find, but having found it, a non-german reader can't do much with it.
If I had an extra two zeros on my paychecque, the places would be fun. Given that I was pretty much the *ONLY* guy in the places on a Friday night, I wonder how they make any money. Most do not open until 9pm, while RushHour opens at 4pm. I hung out there until 9pm, and then had a beer at the other three places, which were much less cozy.
