IMHO, Stralman would have not seen much playing time at all.
He wouldn't be able to crack the top 6.
Thanks for the reminder but I actually didn't forget about Ian White. He was playing forward for the most of last season and he will be playing forward this season.pdson2 said:You forgot Ian White.

He was playing defence because of the injuries. Not that he is a bad defenceman, it's just because he is on the smaller side and he did get bounced around.pdson2 said:He only played forward for the first 10 or so games, he played defence for the rest of the season and was actually one of the Leafs better defenceman. You maybe right and he may play forward but if i had to guess right now he will be a defenceman.
Jeff Finger won't be in top 4, Kabby, Komisarek, Beauchemin, Schenn will make up the top 4. As for the trade, Primeau brings more size up front on the 4th line which is something Burke certainly coveted this off season. Also, while Stralman does have some upside getting a 2nd round pick will benefit the Leafs long term. Rebuilding is a long process and draft picks are the way to go in the cap era. Also, Burke probably realized Stralman was going to be one of the odd men out and decided to give him a chance to play elsewhere by trading him. I wouldn't be surprised if one more defenceman is moved before the start of the season.lawyerman said:Depth Chart for Maple Leafs defenemen:

Dude, Finger is no #4 (except his actual #) Here are my pairings.lawyerman said:Depth Chart for Maple Leafs defenemen:

I shouldn't have put Finger as a number 4 but he is definitely top 6. I wasn't a big fan and I think he started off on the wrong footm with Leafs fans because of the big contract he signed that everyone (including myself) thought he was unworthy of. He certainly played well last year and I think he actually surprised some people.fugezy said:Dude, Finger is no #4 (except his actual #) Here are my pairings.
Kaberle, Komiserak
Beuchamin, Van Ryn
White, Schenn
Exelby
With all Van Ryn's injury's I would easily put Stralman in his spot or move White up and Stralman in the 6 spot. Then you have Froggy and Finger neither of I would want. But they have been bringing Stralman along and I don't understand giving up on him at this point for a 2nd round pick in 2011? The more I think about this the more I think there is another move to come? Something that involves flipping that pick and and another defenseman for something?
Disagree- put White with Komeserak or Excelby and it might just work really well. Didn't White end up with the best plus/minus of any defencemean on the leafs last year?lawyerman said:He was playing defence because of the injuries. The Leafs need any type of scoring that they can get and putting White on defence will not help matters unless someone goes down with an injury again.
That's your opinion and I respect that. Did you check your stats to see if White had the best plus/minus? If you are going solely by stats, you are sadly misinformed in my opinion. I am talking about defencemen.train said:Disagree- put White with Komeserak or Excelby and it might just work really well.
