Simply one of the greastest songwriters...I'm bummed I never got to see him live, even though he made appearances in the area the past few years...

Very sad.
He hung on longer than the doctors gave him.

Yes, the new album IS great.

If you thought he only did "Werewolves of London", the new album will be fresh & a pleasant surprise.
His version of "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is great, and also haunting.

B.

...So will I!

Another good one gone! He was never really "famous", and still one of the best songwriters ever!

@Bone: The doctors gave him 3 month last year in August....

...smoking really sucks...

I agree a great songwriter and a wonderful human being. I'll be interested what Letterman and Schaffer have to say about him tonight as they were really touting his album a couple of weeks ago and he was often on to replace Schaffer when Paul had another gig.

By the way I concur, BUY THE ALBUM, its terrific!

wow, missed the news although knew was coming..found some of the songs on the new album hard enough to listen to but now not sure will be easy...was listiening to knockin n heavens door today and found haunting like Bone said, imagine even more so now,
with a lot of the crap you see here nice to be able to find something of values..

" I saw Lon Chaney drinking a Pina Collada at Trader Vick's ... his hair was perfect ".

One of my favourite lines in a song.

RIP WZ !

Way Out West
Letterman last night

He showed a clip of WZ's last performance from back in October. He sang "Mutineer" Very moving. Great artist. I always liked his sense of humor...

RIP
