Next Canadian show: Qwebec Expo http://www.qwebec.com
August 25-27 - Montreal.

The band will be the featured entertainment as well as the house band to introduce nominees and award winners. It's a webmasters award show done like the AVN awards. Should be a blast.

WP gets positive review in 24HRS

Crank The Wank is the article heading. Go figure?

Here's the write up:

CRANK THE WANK

A rockin' show is in store for patrons at the Horseshoe Tavern, 370 Queen St. W., on Saturday. Celtic punk rockers Mudmen, who typically stir up a frenzy with their bagpipe action, will be joined by Oshawa four-piece rockers Lower Back Tatti and the piece de resistance -- Wankpunter. Making waves all over with a whole different animal -- porn rock -- Wankpunter might offend the virginal sort but the limber-minded will laugh and rock out at the same time. Their shtick is killer, their perverted personas as colourful as their costumes, their ladies are hot and their music is good. The band is set to play Playboy TV as well as the Playboy mansion, and Whisky a Go Go in L.A. next month. It is too much -- check out at www.wankpunter.com or its myspace site. Doors 9 p.m., show 10 p.m. Cover is $8. Call 416-598-4753.

I attended the show and was very impressed by both the music played, all original, and with the stage show, the girls were very naughty;) . One gentleman told me after the show that they reminded him of the Tubes, a band I am not familiar with but one that I have found out was quite famous back in the 70's for their stage show.

Good luck in Montreal and I know that you will knock them dead in LA when you get there.

Damn! Missed the Punters...

... alas, I missed the Punters' gitg at the Shoe. My sorrow was slightly aleviatged by the fact that I was at a wonderful out of town festival, with much smashing music.

I've seemed a bit critical/sour about the Wank Punters, and I was upbraided by Dani (whom, I think, sings with them or wiggles her lovely derriere on stage with them), so I certainly can't criticise a show I couldn't be at.

Next time, I hope - as long as it's not in LA or at the Playboy Mansion (I mean - how 60's is THAT?)....Marshall, are your amps gonna be used by the Punters around Toronto in the near future?

Worse, I am THE shittiest typist around....

Can't COUNT how many typing errors I had in that last post. Apologies to those who might, rightly, be offended by my apparent ignorance...

A sub drummer was used for the Shoe. He's not our main guy and although a great drummer (he does the Rush albums on the CAL Live series) he really only had 3 rehearsals to get it together. Wonderbread was galavanting on the East coast with his bread & butter gig. He was booked prior to us taking the Shoe gig so we had to reconnoiter on that one. So it's just as well that you couldn't make it out.

There was a 4th rehearsal scheduled but the dude slept in. As a penalty for missing such a crucial full dress rehearsal, I got him to wear pajamas and a night cap for his stage costume and changed his name from Captain Fist to Ripped Van Twinkle. lol The guy was a great sport about it and didn't even put up a fuss. ;)

But it was a fun night, that's for sure. And the girls were certainly hot!

Further developments for the band: we've brought in a new killer bass player. I felt it was the missing link for the live act and after this evenings rehearsal, I'm convinced that the new guy is gonna rock.

He's an actor as well (Actra acredited) and is a spitting image of Ben Stiller (think Zoolander). Lucky enough, I was able to get the P2 work visa adjusted to include him in just the nic of time. So he'll be with us on the LA sojourn. We were going to wait until the band returned from LA but decided to make the move now seeing as he knows all the material flawlessly.

Dani? Thanx for the kind words. I'll pass it on to the boys & girls as I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Definitely looking forward to LA. Black Widow Productions is hosting a party in the band's honor. It'll be at Tangerine and it's right on the strip just a few minutes stroll from the Whisky.

Speaking of which, that show almost got derailed due to a boycott of the band. You can read all about it here on Rock Confidential:

Sheik? As for the cute blonde Anon was refering to, I believe he meant my very own little Fluffette. lol Sometimes the perks can be rather pleasant I'll have to admit.

Not quite sure what you meant by this query so I'll assume that you're asking if the band will be using a backline supporter on the tour. For the LA trip, indeed. Backline will be neccessary as I don't want to be carting gear all that distance. And we found an amazing place that has all this vintage gear such as the classic Marshall 800's etc.

Right on! You know you've got credibility when someone calls for a boycott!

Once they start burning your albums, you're going to hit the Top 40!
One can only hope! The guys have actually asked me if there was a way to take advantage of that. lol Perhaps I should write a letter to Tipper and see if I can rekindle her flame.

Check out some new tracks from the band! Driver (self explanatory) and Sex Worker are up on the band's My Space page: http://www.mypace.com/wankpunter

Driver is the latest and was only completed about a week ago. We loaded that one up very recently and both trax are beginning to define the Punter sound. It's moving away from the blues-based rock that started all of this and going into a much more structured kind of arrangement with a stronger emphasis on melody and harmonies.

Further, by adding the Discombobulator as a wingman, the guitar playing has gone to a much slicker level. The band in its present form is a far cry from the disparate group of misfits that performed on the debut CD.

We'll be using the trip to promote the sophomore release: "Supersize ME!" which I hope and pray will break the act.

As for the after party, I just got word that there will be a media board set up at Tangerine with a red carpet walk up. The stars on Black Widows invite list reads as a who's who of the industry.

This project is becoming rather surreal... to think it all started as a freakin' joke on an old industry friend. Go figure?
