I went ahead and installed the VLC Media Player. I can "freeze" a frame on a video (AVI or MOV) playback but when I try to do a print screen, all I get is a black space where the image should be. What is wrong?

hiya SkyRider you need to snapshot an image (Shift S) I think, then print the image.

When I use QuickTime, I freeze the frame and hit the "print screen" key and then proceed with the rest of the steps to save the frame as a still photo..

This is really weird. I then installed VLC on my older and slower computer (a Pent 3 instead of a Pent 4) and the print screen is working fine.

While messing around VLC, I notice is a "snap" feature which seems to capture a still pic of the video.

VLC is loaded with features you have to dig around in it to find.

to take a screen grab you go to Video and "Snapshot". Works well for me :)
Yes, I found the "snapshot" feature and I eventually found the still photo in my internal HD. I noticed that it is in "png" format and not "jpeg", has anybody tried to do a print?

png is a standard Linux format.
It should print fine with many printers I'm guessing but am not sure of because I seldom need to print pics. I use a couple Linux apps that covert png format pix to jpeg or a few other formats with no problem if needed.
