Good day,

I am planning a little adventure to New York City shortly and wondering if any terbites have any experience in the big apple.

No, not interested in any hobbying while i am there.

I am interested to know if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay (hotel, don't get too carried away) in Manhattan.

Also, any good restaurants, attractions, etc.

I am figuring Central Park, Empire State Building, maybe a mueseum or two, wandering around some interesting streets, soho, maybe take in a broadway show, etc.

Never been there, so I have no clue of where anything is, where is cool, areas to avoid, etc.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated....

cheers

You might want to try priceline for your hotel, especiallly if your trip is not too far off and you are somewhat flexible about your exact location. Generally if you book directly expect to pay at least US $150 for a decent hotel room in Manhattan.

Buy Broadway tix at the half price booth in Times Square.....it's a place you will want to see anyway.

There are many fine restaurants. Depending on your choice of food, prices can range from the reasonable to the ridiculous. New York Deli (things like pastrami, tongue, knishes) is a must while you are there.

I'm partial to the Museum of Natural History, but again, there are so many to choose from.

Definitely leave your hobbying dollars home in T.O. They're much more valuable there.

Flooey!

I travel to NYC often and am quite particular about where to stay, I usually I stay at one of the four W HOTELS www.whotels.com they usually have great rates for stylish digs on line.
Other cool spots would be the SOHO grand, Hudson and Morgans..

While you're in NYC, see if you can find those WMD that Bush was looking for in Iraq.
