An item that has been used previously. It was recently serviced/oiled, and is fully operational and functions as intended. Aluminum body in perfect condition, built like a tank.

More about the camera:
The Pentax Spotmatic is a range of 35mm single-lens reflex camerasmanufactured by the Asahi Optical Co. Ltd., later known as Pentax Corporation, between 1964 and 1976. The original 1964 Spotmatic was one of the first SLRs to offer a through-the-lens (TTL) exposure metering system, initially using average metering and later center-weighting. Despite the name, the camera did not use spot metering. The lens has asahi opt. co. super-takumar 1:1.8/55

I have pretty much the same camera on my shelf, but I'm saving it for when one of my offspring wants to really learn about photography (or antiques). Nothing digital looks quite as good as film.

good move there.. The colours and depth of field from digital can never beat analogue film cameras. i don't want to part with mine but need cash asap.. wish I didn't have to do this.. This camera is solid and looks good just sitting on my desk. If only they built cameras like this these days instead of the plastic material crap xD

I agree they are great cameras but they are hard to sell. I have a Canon F1 and a Minolta, both like new and I can't give them away. Its difficult to get film and hard to get someone to develop and print the photographs.
You are not looking in the right places for film. There is plenty of it. Downtown Camera on Queen St. East of Church is one place to start. They also have 1-hour film service, as well. Vistek is another store. I can even buy film in Durham Region, and Oshawa, of all places.

Nice camera! The 55 mm lens is closer to normal than a 50 mm lens. My late Dad had a Minolta SR-3 with a 55 mm f 1.4 Rokkor lens that was perfect for general photography.

you must be kidding... there are so many places around Toronto alone that develop films and sell film. There are waaayyy too many enthusiasts that I don't think we'll ever see it completely off the market. As for film, I just go on ebay or online, buy them in bulk for so much cheaper

Nice camera. Unfortunately, there is no market. Some of these are available at Henrys outlet store in Mississauga for $20 to $40. They have bins full of them. Nikons, Canons, everything else.
Yes, film can still be developed but the vast majority of people have gone for the convenience of digital.

Actually there is a market for old manual lenses now. Prices for really good lenses (like the classic Canon FD 50mm 1.4) have doubled in the last 2 years, because the old lenses can be used on the newer mirrorless cameras. So really...you can have the best of 2 worlds now - the warmth of manual, the convenience of digital.

Damondean is right there is no market. I've been buying these film camera left right and centre for dirt cheap. I sold a Pentax package for $300 just before the digitial wave really took off, and even know I know I will be stuck with them I am buying up (and even being given) several I figure the $300 will cover it since I know I won't sell them. My most recent prize is a Canon EOS Rebel 2000 with a zoom and in perfect condition for $10.99 at Value Village. cost more for the battery lol.

i'm sure there are cameras being sold for $20 but you can't generalize them... depends which camera. like I'm sure there are digital cameras going for $2 and $5000 too

Exactly. A Leica M4-P for $20. In which universe???? :)
Leicas and Contax are about the only 35mm film cameras that still fetch a good resale value. Some of the professional Nikons (i.e. F3) can still command a good dollar, but even they are going for less than they did 15-20 years ago. If the camera was a Pentax K1000, I might be interested.

I've got a few nice Pentax m42 primes I forgot about, I think I'll go shooting with them once more time before getting rid of them.
