wow, they win a game, and VC gets all the credit. i guess chris bosh, rafaer alston and woods did nothing at all tonite??? to be sure, vince played a solid game, but, nothing out of the ordinary. and make no mistake about it, this will be chris bosh' team, by mid-season!

i rather enjoyed the up-tempo style, after watching paint dry last year with kevin o'niell at the helm. wish the raps luck, and hopefully, if everyone stays relatively healthy, and play up to their capabilities, this team will make the playoffs. key as always with this team, will be the center spot...they really need woods or araujo to step up big-time! oh yeah, and that vince guy to step up and play like he should.

I still say get him out of here. It's only game one so I wont be to critical. My minimum expetations for Carter is at least a double-double.

Pheonix is looking to trade Marion. Maybe something can be done?

Carter played a role in last night's victory. That role was to be part of the team and keep his mouth shut in spite of the ridiculous court ruling. If he plays like that all year then he might have the season everyone hopes he will.

The Raps played well last mnight and I like the up-tempo offense and hussle on defense they displayed. Should Carter get credit for that...not likely. It was a good start but it's only game 1.

Yeah it is true americanson (4.5 mill to be exact) Carter has scored 15 points many times in his career. But as stated before what was more impressive is the supporting casts contribution. Awsome performance for a team that is expected not to make the playoffs. Carter will be hurt by Xmas and will start whining about something when he doesnt get the credit he feels he deserves. If a good trade is out there...pull the damn trigger. Vince keep up a consitant effort and Im sure you'll get your wish.
BTW i just hate the way Vince bounces around with that gangsta wannbe look on his face. Get over it Vince you arent a tough guy

How much are we paying a role player

I agree that Carpet played a key role in last nights victory. But we should not pay role players that much money.

The Raps played a great game, and I applaud Sam Mitchell for a great game plan. With Alston this is at least going to be a fun team to watch....

Chris Bosh....what can you say about this guy... AWESOME

The one thing that bothered me was that at the end of the game it was still close (4 or 6 points). This was where I think a guy like Carter could earn every penny.

Carter has everything needed to make a move to the basket and finish or drive and dish. I did not see that happening. Instead I see Peterson throw up a 3poiner that barely hit the rim, and Donyell throw up another 3 pointer (with about 4 minutes to go). These are not the shots that you want to see with the game still close.

But either way, it was a good victory and Mitchell seems to have a good grasp on what his people are capable of doing....
Good god...Loren Woods looked good

Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Latrell Spreewell, Terrell Owens, Joe Horn, Randy Moss, Meshawn Johnson, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey, Ricky Williams, the entire Portland Potblazers team. What do they have in common? Not one championship. Time to win something before you can talk. I can't wait for Ray Lewis or some other LB to knock TO out cold coming across the middle. I'm a huge McNabb fan, but I hope Philly chokes this year because of TO.

I didn't see the game but Inoticed in the box score that Carter went 1/2 on free throws. Was he not getting calls or was he not driving to the basket?

didn't drive to basket much......but when he did drive, he dished vs shot....very unselfish

also suprisingly, he played great defense on McGrady....held him to 21 pts and blocked him at a critical pt in game

Big test for Raptors will be against detroit tommorow

huston team had back to back games and they still haven't jel yet

Lets continue this conversation mid way through the season when Carter's in the top 5 in scoring and the Raptors are enjoying their Cinderella Season. The NBA is a business and Carter has been more than professional in dealing with this off-season. Don't forget how long Vince kept his mouth shut before he felt he had to go public. Look at Kobe. Biggest biatch in the league.

Carter got 15 points last night. That is not about to get him into the top 5 in scoring. Dont get excited Rafer Alsten also got 15 if im not mistaken. Vince played well. but he's just not as great as everyone thinks he should be (himself included). He contributed last night like almost everyone on the team and thats what should be expected of him. I think winning that dunk contest was the worst thing that happened to Vince. Big Deal!

That's what we saw last year and why he rated the 41st best player in the league (even below chauncy) An athletic superstar get to the basket and draws the fouls. Carter played scared for the past few years and focused only on his outside game.

Skip was impressive. I was a bit skeptical at first looking at the $$ he signed for but he's a perfect fit for the up tempo game. Even his jump shot is reasonable now.

Bosh has looked great in the pre-season and 1st game. He's still skinny but he's quickly developing into a guy who could play 3, 4, or 5 depending on the match-up.

Woods was really useful. I'm not sure how effective he will be on O or D against a "normal" size center.

Carter did play great D in the first game but I'm guessing this was because of the years of personal one on one rivalry, not an overall commitment to defence.

The raptors even have a bench this year with marshall and peterson being capable of big games.

I would love to see carter averaging 20+ points so his value goes up and we can trade his ass. ( I like the Matrix trade rumor. That was one of my hopes for a draft day deal.) He did work hard against the rockets but he IS NOT a team leader.

Mitchell's philosophy is exactly the type off game I like to see and suits the hard workers on the team well.

For now I'm chilling my beer, waiting to see how they do trying to run against detroit's D. This is the type of game that carter NEEDS to play big if he wants any credability as a "the franchise".

Where are all the Vince Carter Bashers

What's that sound??

Silence???

Ok, I guess that I have to speak out... Vince Carter had a pretty darn good game on Sunday, and the Raptors won the game, and he hit the big shot at the end of the game to secure the win....

BUT!!!!!!

From a team standpoint... you don't put a win away with an off balance, fade away shot from outside the 3 point arc, with no one near the basket for any possible rebounds..... You take the ball the hoop, try to draw the defence to you, pass the ball to a teammate for an easy two points or to draw the foul as you go to the hoop.

Geez...come on you guys, don't tell me going 3-0 has made everyone a Vince Carter fan again? The only way that he would be redeeemed in my eyes is to take us on a championship run, and I don't think that this is going to happen anytime soon..... luckily for Vince, he makes 10 or 11 million a year, and really does not give a shit about what I say..

Vince Carter is finally living up to his potential. As a role player and a team player that is contributing every day so far. I dont like the guy and all the hype around him. If he scores 10-15 points a night and plays hard and shuts his yap perfect! Hes not a super star and shouldnt be paid like one or act like one. He didnt necesarily ask to be put on this pedistal. The media went nuts with him and built him up more than they should after winning the dunk contest. Ive been a VC basher but if he keeps playing a team game and realizes his limitations he'll be fine and so will the Raptors. Vince is a good player. But he's not an elite player
