Anyone watching Season II.

I'm happy to report that the writing has improved considerably, Take 5 (Toronto company) put their money where it was needed. In Season I they didn't know what they had, they needed a major player like Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects) to get the production of the ground. Another historical figure has been added to mix, King Ecbert grandfather of Alfred the Great. I have a fairly good idea where the plot line is going but I won't spoil it for those following the show.

They have so many possibilities with this series, Rollo could become the progenitor of Olaf Ruric. Also William the Conqueror's father was named Rollo.

William was the son of the unmarried Robert I, Duke of Normandy, by Robert's mistress Herleva.

Vikings is an amazing series.

I binged the first season when they replayed it and am now hooked. I love the lead. Especially when he smiles with the crazy eye smile. You know something awful is going to happen to someone shortly.

Its been a nice warm up until Game of Thrones returns.......

You are correct, my mistake. Rollo became the 1st Duke of Normandy after defeating the Franks at the Battle of Rouen then putting Paris under siege. The Carolingian King bought him off with the Duchy of Normandy. It was the beginning of the end of Charlemagne's Dynasty. He died in 932 and his body is still interred in the Cathedral of Rouen. William the Conqueror is his descendant.

Before she took on the role of Largertha Lothbrok, Kathryn Winnick was a stuntwoman/martial arts instructor.

Not unusual for a Pilot IF successful to get more money invested into it & thus hiring more or better writers to ramp it up!! :D

I don't know anything about Travis Fimmel, but he has REALLY grown into the role of Ragnar Lothbrok.

This series is getting better and better.

A significant new plot twist has been introduced, King Ecbert keeps Roman scrolls in storage and he wants Athelstan to translate them into Germanic text. Most Roman knowledge was wiped away when the Saxons conquered the Bretons. Where this will lead, watch and find out.

I could be wrong but I find the whole "Viking women are respected" thing to be a little over the top. I get that they had more rights than in the rest of Europe at the time but it's getting a little revisionist for me...

I finished season 2, much better than season 1. I stumbled upon this, while the scene did make it on the show, the HISTORY CHANNEL, bastards didn't give us the whole shot. Episode 6, when Porunn (Giai Weiss), Ragnar's sons girl friend show him her tits, they are real and they are spectacular! If you play the video, click on got to video on the bottom right, it goes to a larger screen.

I'm glad this thread was started because if not I would have started it.
I just wanted to tell people who may have given up on this show in season 1 to give it another chance as it has become very very good.
Season 1 was a little slow but the characters are now well developed and as somebody else mentioned they can now do so many things with the plot.

From the get go you could see that Floki would be compelling. Gustaf Skarsgard has a lineage of talent behind him: his father is Stallan Skarsgard and his godfather is Peter Stormare (Spiderman, Fargo).
