".......When you have nothing but dashes (----) on the receiver's display, the receiver is stuck in the boot loader. At this point, you must use the serial port:
Turn the main power switch on the the back of the receiver off. Connect the receiver to your PC using the included NULL modem cable. Install and configure LOADER2 software on your PC. Run LOADER2 and start the transfer of PFTAUSW-070801U.PGM to the STB (a 'factory' file should not be required). Then turn the main power switch on the back of the receiver on. The file transfer should actually begin at this point. When the transfer is complete, the receiver will program the firmware into non-volatile RAM and then reboot. BE PATIENT. Once the receiver reboots, you may have to bring it out of standby mode using the front panel power button or the red power button on the remote control.
Assuming this brings your receiver back to life, follow the instructions in UltraCFG.pdf (linked below) to configure it properly.
