Video Editing Help Plz...

I recently downloaded an AC/DC concert recorded in Paris from 1979. It is a VOB file. Unfortunately when I play it back the audio is out of sync with the video arrrrrrghhhhhhhh!!!

Is there a video editing program that I can use to get the audio and video back in sync?

Depends on why the a/v falls out of sync. But that sort of thing is typically because of bad timestamp data in the MPEG data (which is what the VOB files hold). Do a search (here, and on google) for such things as FFMPEG, and see if you can first re-encode the VOB files to something more transcodable (e.g. 5000kb vcodec, MPEG4 (or MOV), ... play around a bit. Once it's all starting off okay, you can consider re-encoding intermediate files ....

you don't have to re-encode the files. if you re-encode you are going to lose image quality.

you need to demux the video and audio then recombine and either add or subtract delay to the audio to sync it properly.

the movie vob files are probably split into 1 Gb chunks.

you probably can't do it yourself so if your asking here how to do it.

you need to burn the vob file as an image file (use infoedit, muxman - these wont re-encode the files and if you use another program the vob files may get re-encoded and affect the audio delay even more), mount the image in daemon tools, demux the movie in IFO mode in Dvd Decryptor (set options file splitting to none), now you have separate audio and video files. use your favourite video editing program (Dvd Lab-Pro is easy to use to set audio delay) and set the audio delay and remux the video and audio files and enjoy.

this is assuming that the audio delay is constant throughout the movie, if the audio delay varies then you are going to have to cut the audio and video files and re-sync every section.

Play it in VLC player, which has a setting to compensate for audio sync.
