With technology changing so quickly what is the latest in video cameras. I want to buy something this weekend:
- between 300 and 500 $
- digital
- stereo
- usb or firewire out
- small
- 12800 x zoom (only kidding about this one)

Any recommendations?

I have a 40" LCD TV 1080i. Does it make a big diff when viewing it on this type of TV?

If you are using an HD camera that does 720p then viewing it in 720p on your LCD would look really nice. SD cameras will only give you 480i and it doesn't look all that great when you scale it on your LCD.

miniDV Canon 850 you'll need to buy the IEEE cable and a box of miniDV tapes, it's within your price range at Bestbuy.

Is it good in low light? I find with my old Sony that low light is an issue.
