Going to Varadero soon, and staying at an all inclusive hotel. Any advice on which hotels or clubs have the most "action" in terms of both tourist and locals. Also, how would one go about trying to get staff, such as maids to maybe have some "fun" with. Is that even possible to get the staff, and if so, how should one go about it?

I ask something similar, and I did the search and read all the posts. The quiestion Im asked this time about the staff, isnt answered in any of the posts. Any info is good!
I hired a maid as babysitter there every evening for a week. I think I paid her about a years salary for the week. She was a grandmother and very good with the children. If any member of staff were to be seen entering or leaving your room they would be fired and perhaps face more discipline also. When they clean the rooms, there are either two girls working together, or they have the door wide open so security can keep tabs on them.
You have to understand the repercussions for local girls who are caught with tourists. Even just talking to a foreigner gets them in trouble. When I was there in February this year, I was sitting with some locals at an outdoor cafe when the police arrived and took them to the police station to check their history.
After two warnings from police, the girls face jail time for being with a foreigner.
As always in Cuba, use the utmost descretion. It is not worth a little fun for you to have the girl pay a huge price when you leave.
Although it is a fun, safe destination for us, it is still a communist police state that keeps a tight grip on the local population.

I wonder if with the recent changes by the Bush gov't towards Cuba will force the Cuban authorities to lift the crackdown as it is obvious that the Cuban populous relies heavily on thier American relatives to send money and visit with lots of goods and money on a monthly and yearly basis. With no USD$$'s coming in to help out thier underground economy, the people of Cuba will be suffering more than ever. But the Bush moves will not force Castro out faster that is for sure.

Well I'll observe what is going on there. Im staying all inclusive with my buddies so I dont expect to see anything much in tourist areas. When i was at another hotel, I only saw one lady who cleaned the rooms, not two together, any suggestions on the approach, I am just curious, I wouldnt want to get them in trouble, but is there a discreet approach?

I wouldn't think many maids would risk banging a tourist. A job at a resort is a big thing as they get paid the norm about 20 USD$ per month but they get access to alot of tips in USD$$.
So most maids would not risk a quickie for some $$$ as they can get tips in any event and keep their job.
But I think there may be a double standard as I was speaking to a single Canadian girl who at a resort and she told me that the Cuban guys working on the resort were coming on to her left and right. She told me that she had spoken to other girls and they said the same thing.

This is true, when I went to Cuba the first time, the locals were all over th foriegn girls, and even the hotel staff were all over them to the point where it was annoying to me. We are young guys so we had girls with us, and they would try to take them away (of course with no success) but I wanted to punch some of them. Girl staff on the other hand were friendly but not in a sexual way

Why don't you quietly bring up the subject when they try to sell you some 'street' cuban cigars. Lord knows I had plenty of hotel staff trying to get me a "great" deal. Why the obsession with a staff member?? We have already told you what the repurcussions are if they get caught. They make US dollars on a daily basis from many decent tourists who don't try to "coax" them into anything other than doing their jobs and supporting their families. So you've HEARD it - so what? There are plenty of girls all over that Island looking to deal with foreigners. Why mess with someone's job and life unless you're looking to cause trouble for the thrill. You've been there. You know what they're up against.
There are plenty of sites on the 'net that can tell you about how/where/who. Plus, there's going to be plenty of guys on your plane that will know what they're doing, trust me.

Most maids/girls that work in the hotels aren't all that interested in being 'coaxed' by you, for reasons already stated. If you have your heart set on it though, and if such a girl was interested, she would likely let you know in subtle ways not unlike any other girl that was interested in you. Watch for the signs and be very discreet.
Best advice is to forget the idea though, too risky for her.
oh I know its risky for her. But if she is going to do it anyways, then I might as well get some info on what she is offering. I am obviously not going to go up to any maid and suggest it without her showing some sort of sign for it, but if she is going to give out hints, then I'll try to get more details from her.

I was there a few years ago and as many of the other members have attested to, female staff are quite standoffish with foreigners. On the other hand, male staff are quite forthcoming.
Try this, befriend one of the male staff and ask where someone can get some action. For $70 US, the male staff hooked me up with one of the entetrtaiment ladies (not maid) at the resort. There was a lot of coaxing that need to happen (male staff to female) but in the end the deal was done. Spent the night with the lady and had an okay time. You can tell that she wasn't in to it at all nor did she do this before. Made me feel bad afterwards. Next time, I'll head into Havana to visit some of the pros there.
