They work just like a Visa or MasterCard with a limit. You can use them online or in person. They're available in many stores. Don't quote me, but I think they cost about 5% over the face value.
A pimp might demand these to be sure he wasn't getting short changed. Just a thought.
If they are asking for a card it is a scam. They will tell you that they are at a hotel and when you get there and ask for the room number they will say that they will give you the room number after you give them the PIN code for the card. Once they have that, they can access the money and you will never hear from them again.
If the girl is Ross, you might want to ask her how she can be in North Bay, Ont. and Moncton, N.B. at the same tome.
