User Profile not avaliable

What does ot mean when you click on a member's name and it says "user's profile not available"?

Are they semi-banned or blocked somehow by the mods?

I'm pretty sure it means they're permanently banned. For temp bans the profile will say "this user limits who may view their profile", but this also happens sometimes for perm bans, and also when the user actually hides their profile.

They're not banned. I can see the green icon when they're online. Their profile name isn't black. You can still click on it, it just directs to a page that says "user's profile unavailable"

If the profile name is black and unclickable it means the account was deleted, not just banned. A banned account still exists and could be unbanned. A banned user can try to log in, they just can't do anything but it will still show the green icon. A deleted account is actually gone.

I think the profile unavailable message means a permanent ban, or at least an indefinite ban. They could still be unbanned, but it's up to the mods to take that action explicitly.

A temp ban will expire on it's own after the time period elapses, and the mods specify how long the ban lasts when they do it. Also I think my first reply was inaccurate. If a user is temp banned I think you can still see their profile, but you can't DM them and there are some other restrictions.

In this case, the "start conversation" button is missing from their drop-down profile, but the follow/ignore options are still there
