Sure, except discrimination is OK if it's the right sort. He should be a ghey, or a transgenda, piss off a Uganda Pasta, then the US will bust a nut to get him back, maybe give 50 ICBMs to Best Korea, anything.
I am sure the US will make some efforts, but there have been other defectors and they stayed for ages or forever and did pretty well.
This guy though, I'd bet the US and NK would almost be willing to go to war to see who gets stuck with him [not literally, hyperbole] . Couldn't get guaranteed promotions, drunk early in the morning, getting in fights because a local wouldn't share a drink, multiple times getting in trouble. More trouble than he is worth.
If he would stay in NK, if he doesn't straighten himself up, he will probably get executed for saying or doing the wrong thing.
