U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called Ukraine's shock cross-border operation into Russia's Kursk region "brilliant" and "bold" in a visit to Kyiv on Monday, and he urged the Biden administration to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs.

With Russia still struggling to repel the Ukrainian incursion seven days after it began, Ukraine's top commander said Kyiv controlled around 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region.

Graham made comments during a visit to Kyiv with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal.

"What do I think about Kursk? Bold, brilliant, beautiful. Keep it up," he told reporters.

"Bottom line is to the administration. ... Give them weapons they need to win the war they can't afford to lose," he added.

During the meeting with the Senate delegation, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked the U.S. for support.

"We discussed what exactly is needed to bring this war to a just end, including our need to use long-range weapons," he said later in a post on X.

Ms. Lindsey is so pathetic, I bet if his orange god-king told him to bend the knee to Putin, he would do it in flash.
He would be on Fox fake news spewing Russia propaganda the very next day.

Lindsey Graham Wants To Force More Ukrainian Men Into The Draft
JACK HUNTER
MAR 20, 2024

Over 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died fighting Russia since the invasion, according to President Volodmyr Zelensky last month.

Never mind if that’s the actual number or not. For Lindsey Graham, it’s not enough.

Despite no evidence of victory on the horizon, the Republican senator is urging Ukrainian lawmakers to pass a mobilization bill that would force more Ukrainian citizens to be drafted into the military. Currently, men under 27 are exempted from the draft. Graham has a problem with that.

The Washington Post reports, “Ukraine’s new mobilization law, which has been under debate for months as the country faces a severe shortage of battle-ready troops, proposes lowering the country’s draft age to 25. Although citizens can voluntarily join the military starting at age 18, and men between 18 and 60 are banned from leaving the country under martial law, the draft has until now
protected younger men — many of whom are students — from being forcibly mobilized.”

Graham told reporters, “I would hope that those eligible to serve in the Ukrainian military would join. I can’t believe it’s at 27. You’re in a fight for your life, so you should be serving — not at 25 or 27.”

“We need more people in the line,” he said.

How brave of Graham.

The New York Times reported in late January, “(A)fter nearly two years of bloody fighting, and with Ukraine once again in need of fresh troops to fend off a new Russian push, military leaders can no longer rely solely on enthusiasm. More men are avoiding military service, while calls to demobilize exhausted frontline soldiers have grown.”

“The change in mood has been particularly evident in the heated debates over a
new mobilization bill that could lead to drafting up to 500,000 troops,” the Times noted. “The bill was introduced in Parliament last month — only to be quickly withdrawn for revision.”

It’s as if some Ukranians don’t want this bill. It’s almost as if many see no point in continuing to fight this war. But don’t tell Graham that. “No matter what we do, you should be fighting,” the Republican, who has zero skin in the game, insisted. “No matter what we do, you’re fighting for you.”

The Times continued, “The bill has catalyzed discontent in Ukrainian society about the army recruitment process, which has been denounced as riddled with corruption and increasingly aggressive. Many lawmakers have said that some of its provisions, like barring draft dodgers from buying real estate, could violate human rights.”

Graham didn’t address any of that. Paying attention to human rights violations is not exactly at the top of his to-do list. For the hawkish senator this is all about politics and ideology, which usually come first before all else.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that despite encouraging Ukraine’s young men to fight in a war many of them don’t believe in and don’t want to die in, Graham actually voted against the last Ukraine aid package because it did not include funding for U.S. border security.

So he was comfortable withholding money for a war over politics — a war he proclaims to believe in deeply — while urging citizens of a foreign country to march into oblivion.

When Graham was calling for U.S. military strikes on Iran in 2019, something Donald Trump refused to do at the time, the president rebuked the senator by telling reporters, “Ask Lindsey how did going into the Middle East, how did that work out? And how did going into Iraq work out?”

These are questions Graham would never ask. They are anathema to who he is and what he stands for. Risk assessment would just cloud the agenda. For Graham, engaging in all wars to achieve ideological and political goals is always the right decision despite the results, reality or tragic cost of the conflict.

Especially for the citizens of other countries.

Lindsey Graham wants not to give away but only to loan money to
Ukraine. Though not as generous as Biden's Democrats Graham he
is indeed the better businessman.

Turning Foreign Aid into a Loan is a Winning Combination for America
Mar 18 2024

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement following a meeting in Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I had a very productive visit with President Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials about the state of the war and what lies ahead.

“During my meeting with President Zelensky, I informed him that given the crisis at the United States’ southern border and our overwhelming debt, President Trump’s idea of turning aid from the United States into a no-interest, waivable loan is the most likely path forward. This is not only true for aid for Ukraine, but for other countries across the board. I reiterated that the House’s Ukraine aid legislation must include some American border security provisions.

“I am also urging the Biden Administration to send longer-range artillery, accelerate F-16 training for the Ukrainians, and designate Russia a state sponsor of terrorism under U.S. law.

“Once Ukraine gets back on its feet, thve ey will be an economic powerhouse because of their access to mass deposits of critical minerals, oil and gas.

“It is clear Ukrainians appreciate the United States’ support. I know Americans want to help our friends and allies, but I also believe we must consider our economic situation as we help others.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It is devious of Graham to only want to loan money to Ukraine
to get their people killed. Notwithstanding. the benefits the U.S. can
reap from a broken Ukraine after the war cited above is indeed and
must not be overlooked as one big incentive to continue aiding Ukraine.

US senator says Ukraine is ‘gold mine’ with $12 trillion of minerals ‘we can’t afford to lose’
2024-06-13

A prominent US lawmaker has referred to Ukraine as a “gold mine”, insisting the West must maintain access to the trillions of dollars worth of critical minerals located in the country.

“They’re sitting on $10 to $12 trillion of critical minerals in Ukraine”, said Senator Lindsey Graham.

“They could be the richest country in all of Europe. I don’t want to give that money and those assets to Putin to share with China”, he added.

The US senator made these comments in a June 10 interview on the CBS program “Face the Nation”.

Graham, a Republican, recalled that, when Donald Trump was president, he sent Ukraine military aid in the form of loans.

The senator strongly implied that Ukraine should pay the West for weapons shipments with its large mineral reserves.

“What did Trump do to get the weapons flowing? He created a loan system”, the Republican senator said.

“If we help Ukraine now, they can become the best business partner we ever dreamed of”, Graham continued. “That $10 to $12 trillion of critical mineral assets could be used by Ukraine and the West, not given to Putin and China”.

The US senator then argued that the West “can’t afford to lose” the war in Ukraine.

“This is a very big deal, how Ukraine ends. Let’s help them win a war we can’t afford to lose. Let’s find a solution to this war. But they’re sitting on a gold mine. To give Putin $10 or $12 trillion of critical minerals that he will share with China is ridiculous”, he repeated.

US Senator Lindsey Graham says Ukraine is a "gold mine" with $12 trillion worth of critical minerals, which the West "can't afford to lose".

US companies want these resources, and Washington hopes to block China's access to them to hurt its tech industries.

Very true. Graham is such an honest American that he made no bone about
why his country would salivate over the prospect of making big bucks in the
ruins of a broken Ukraine.

Thanks Vatnik.

The Russian Federation has already failed, it just doesn't accept the sunk cost fallacy.

Ukraine will not "win" this war though. It has been severely destabilized and perhaps destroyed by the Russian invasion.

Millions of the brightest people from both countries have fled and who knows who will return after establishing a new life abroad. 🤷‍♂️ To return to what? A major reconstruction project that while funded, will take years to plan and organize and perhaps a decade to rebuild.

Fucking asshole Russians have never cared about taking care of the country, people and infrastructure they already have. Except for corruption and grift, the second stroongest characteristic of the Russian nation is to destroy their neighbours house instead of fixing up their own.

That's NOT what he said you Vatnik! He point was that it would be better if UKRAINE and "The West" controlled and used them instead of having Putin and China having those resources.

“They could be the richest country in all of Europe. I don’t want to give that money and those assets to Putin to share with China”, he added.

Sounds like a good idea to this westerner living in a civilized, free society.

You know that both China and Putin's Russia are hell bent on fucking up our western societies don't you?

Nyet, Nyet Soviet! Russia WILL collapse... again. 😜

As a matter of fact I am thankful for the west applying
sanctions to punish Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia
brought on itself impact of the sanctions which
so far I am very pleased with--I am happy to see India getting
to import crude oil at a discount at Russia's expense.

But according to the oily one, there would be no destruction if Ukraine just rolled over and accepted Russia annexing them.
Never ever did I express any wish of Ukraine to roll over the way
you put it. I did suggest several times something to the effect that
negotiation for a truce between both sides of the conflict is
worthwhile. But that is just what I objectively thought to be the
sensible thing to do.

Were it not for the over-generosity of Trudeau with sending more taxpayer money
to Zelensky than we need to I actually thought Canada could be a major beneficiary of
Ukraine war profiteering. I think there is merit in the war dragging on for a few more
years. By the end of the conflict in the battlefield Ukraine will be no more the Ukraine
like it was. By then it will be paid back time for us. I will be happy to put my wallet
into the business of pillaging Ukraine's enormous untapped resources.
