In the laboratory.
While looking at the Toronto Archives site, I came across an entry on the Uptown/Imperial Six Theatre that used to be just south of Bloor and Yonge, where the Crystal Blu condos are going up. http://www.urbandb.com/canada/ontario/toronto/crystalblu/

For those who remember that movie house, there are some nice clickable photos. http://www.toronto.ca/archives/acquisitions_sprachman_uptownimperial.htm

Interesting to see that the last photo on the page was taken when the Yonge Street Mall was still a summer happening.

Those were the days! I believe that I saw Saturday Night Fever in one of those great houses.

Before its conversion to The Imperial Six, there was The Imperial with just one honkin' big theatre auditorium. I recall seeing 'Sink the Bismarck' and 'The Godfather' there. For the latter, I was in the balcony, about 5 rows from the back, and the screen was so far away it was like watching tv. :p

I believe 'The Godfather' was the last movie in The Imperial before its conversion.

hey jwm;

do you remember the University Theatre on Bloor, near Belair? I was once, in my misguided youth, an usher there. The usherettes and the candy girls were worth it! Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sleuth and many more movies played there. All that is left of it is the façade.

That was another grand old movie house. I may have seen those three movies there. Can't be sure. My memory is dimming, just like the house lights before the feature presentation!
