I can likely get help with this problem at work on Monday but I would like to fixed the problem before then and I am sure there is something really simple I can do.

I am trying to upload a Word 2007 file to a webpage using WS-FTP. For some reason when I upload it becomes zipped. Moreover, when I unzip it, instead of opening as a Word 2007 file, I get all those sub files Word 2007 documents are really made up of.

Before someone tells me to create a PDF document, I want it in Word format so up to 130 users can download it to add their own notes. I would like something that will open as a Word file so they can do that. Moreover, I am sure that this must be a simple problem to fix. However, after spending about 3 hours on it, I cannot figure out how to fix it (I should note that this is the first time I have worked with web pages in about 7 years so you can assume I am a complete idiot in how much of the new software works). I’ll be damned if I can find anything in WS-ftp to stop the file from becoming zipped!

ask the administrator of the website to add the proper MIME types for the new file extensions (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, and perhaps the macro-enabled versions .docm, .xlsm, and .pptm). The lack of those MIME types in the website's server configuration is what causes the files to be downloaded as the underlying .zip type.

Thanks. I have already sent them an email. I don’t really understand what MIME types are but I am hoping they are something simple: i.e. changing a setting.
