Here is two ways they make money. Notice it says "Listen to a brief message" What they mean by that is a 2 or 3 min commercial that you MUST listen to before making the call. Of course they are selling these ads to advertisers who pay to put their ads there. Second it says "Talk for up to 30 mins" After 30 mins you pay regular rates. Not many people will even realize when they have gone over the 30 mins. And most will not hang up and call again. Also I'll bet the 3 mins commercial you are forced to listen to is included in that 30 mins.
Remember.... NOTHING comes for free.
Except me... but only for busty redheads who drive BMWs (X3 or X5) shop at Forrest Hill Loblaws and can BBQ a mean steak with all the trimmings.
I used to call an "access number" listen to 10-15second ad and I was connected. It was just for the golden horseshoe but it saved me alot. I think there was also a "BlueLine" that worked the same way.

There still is a free call line in the GTA run by the Toronto Sun. You call 416-644-3733 and listen to a 10 sec commercial, and then dial the 10 digit number, no limit.
