Why does TERB have 'untouchables'? You know, those people who can't have anything negative said about them without the thread disappearing...

I'd much rather they be 'unmentionables' and lose the good as part of the bargain for filtering the bad.

That thread got pulled right while I was in the middle (near the "end," actually) of reading it - sheesh!!

The fact is that many comments/threads/posts/posters disappear and rightly so.

But most only take notice when it's someone 'high profile.'

If you could see what goes on behind the scene you would find that, in fact, the mod team does a remarkable job of being fair and consistent.

From what I saw of the thread that instigated my question, there was a complaint that was easily verifiable, and was valid review material. It's the Toronto Escort REVIEW Board, after all. Deleting that thread looked to me like a case of protecting a paid advertiser... which might be a financially wise move, but it degrades the value of the site to the readership.

And here I am pussyfooting around the subject because the first rule of TERB is "Don't question the mods". Literally. Read the sticky. Even so, I still stand by my opinion that it should either be, 'take the bad with the good' (subject to the removal of libel and personal attacks) or 'no bad, no good'.

Of course, opinions are like assholes... everyone has one.

I say again I don't think that thread was deleted because of the opening post. in the responses (and I'm trying to be careful here) one person made a comment that wasn't at all connected to the origional post that was very inflammatory, and it created an entire side-topic that I totally get not wanting on an escort review board. Your not gonna delete half the thread so you have to purge the whole thing.

Again I'm guessing, but I considered hitting that "report this thread" button more then once reading that side-topic.

I totally agree - why not have a thread that updates who and why someone has been banned. In some cases it's pretty obvious but others leave a few questions.
Mods - any response?
