Just what we need... another 9/11 related thread. I just saw the movie last nite - and thought it was a pile of horsecrap. This was the 'fourth' hijacked airplane on that fateful day. Two hit the World Trade Center, a third hit the pentagon and I say United 93 was shot down by the military. Anyone agree?

I agree we do not need another thread.

Would the result be anydifferent if it were shot down????????
Or would the innocnt passengers still be dead?

Yes the result would be different.

There would be a huge public outcry - and Bush probably wouldnt have been re-elected if that had come out.

You are entitled to belive as you choose.

Prehaps you can come up with an eyewittness to back your theory?

Fair enough. After watching that movie... I believe the notion even less that it was brought down by the passengers. No eyewitnesses doesnt mean it didnt happen. Lemme guess... you also believe Oswald shot Kennedy too... right?

I was 5 when Kennedy was shot. I did not have any interest in following up on his death

Maybe you should. There are many parallels with the events of that era - up to and including the Kennedy assassination and some of the events in this so-callled war on terror.

Been done to death

Still leaves Jack and Bobby dead

Worse yet it leaves Teddy for the people to feel sorry for.

Agreed. But isnt the bigger picture - that without the corruption and cover ups and so forth - that many of these events may never have happened in the first place?

It might have been to Bush's benefit if United 93 was shot down. He would have looked decisive as opposed to his infamous reading of My Pet Goat, and it might have countered some of the conspiracy theories. Why shoot down one of your own planes?

After the first 3 strikes, the government wishes they had shot flight 93 down.
If they could have they obviously would have.
To suggest they did and want to cover this up is idiotic.

They would have taken a lot of heat if they had shot all 4 planes down because people wouldn't have realized what had been prevented.
After the first strike they were justified and indeed obligated to shoot down the others.

The airlines delayed contacting the FAA and the FAA delayed contacting the military.
Cheney claims he gave the order when only Bush can.
Bush claims he gave the order but there is no communication record to back this up.
The 2 nearby fighter pilots claim they did not receive the order but they were too late anyways.
They all look like a bunch of inept idiots for not being able to shoot the planes down.

Why the hell would they deny shooting the fourth plane down?
That would be one of the few things they could claim they got right.
This suggestion is ludicrous.

Oh yeah... "hey there American people... we just shot down a plane full of hundreds of civilian Americans....but its for a good cause"... lol c'mon. no matter what thats just going to add to the fire because in the face of all this madness, people will not be able to reason properly

Think about it.... two planes " out of nowhere" rammed into the twin towers and brought them down. The country at that point would be on the verge of mass hysteria (if they werent already). Having to go and shoot down a plane full of your own people would just make the country look like they have completely lost control; which is a big no no because if the people think that the gov't has lost control then people will get completely un-glued...and that just simply cannot happen especialy during a time like then.

so you have a choice.

1) Admit you shot down a plane of your own people and risk losing the entire country to madness

or

2) Make up a heroic story to lift up the spirts of the people and give them some hope and strength when they need it most which will in turn pull the people back from complete madness. "yeah the american people aboard fought back and took down those bastards...how heroic.. how brave.... America...fuck yeah".... old tactic...used for years.

I dont know about you but I'd take number 2

I'm not saying that this happened for sure.. maybe the passengers did fight back...but I highly doubt it.. I find it very very hard to beleive that the United States of Amercia couldnt get some jets off the ground to take down that plane...ONE F16 and ONE missle and its game over....I just dont buy it

According to the 911 commission, both Cheney and Bush claim they gave the order when there is no evidence to support these claims.
Why would they try to make these claims if they are trying to cover it up?
It doesn't make sense.
In fact, the commission feels they are being bullshitted in order for the government to save face.

The airline didn't call the FAA for around half an hour.
The FAA couldn't immediately find the person who is supposed to call the military, and the people who were there were dilly-dallying around.
They are on tape.

In hindsight, I'm sure most people wish all of the planes were shot down.
After 3 devastating strikes, why do you think the 4th one being shot down would make the entire country go mad?

It would be the iicing on the cake.... like I said....a country has to go and shoot down there own people coupled with the events that already transpired...it'll just make the country look like its lost control (which it did)...that can instigate a big big problem.

you're running a country...you can look incompetent (thats acceptable...surprisingly) but you cant look like you've lost control (that is not acceptable)

No - That plane hit ground at full speed. Had it been hit by a missile a great deal of energy would have been dissipated and some pieces of the plane would be landed - instead nothing was left but a smoking crater.

Those planes compared to an F16 is like comparing a rabbit to a tortois... it would be too easy to shoot out the engines with its guns. 6000 rounds a minute bb...set that bird on a crash course for the gound while sipping on a cup of joe

They could have rammed it as well

Have you been living in a cave?
The government is taking a lot of shit for not being able to shoot the planes down.
It looks like they are lying about even giving the order.
Why would they cover it up?

There was one pilot who went up unarmed and planned to ram one of the planes but he was too late.

They are doing everything they can to convince people that they tried yet you think they succeeded and are trying to cover it up?
