well, you know, the house was given to them as a gift, free and clear and to do with what they chose...(including paying taxes, upkeep etc).

You mean to tell me that when you give someone a gift they HAVE to keep it and can never sell, exchange or dispose of it (or re-gift it lol)?

It may not sit well with us all but really, it was their house.....

Hmmm ... interesting dilemma. No legal violations here, just ethical.

I understand that the church feels betrayed and it does seem sleazy for them to sell the house. Of course, the ethical thing would have been to just refuse the house if you don't want to move there.

But once the house is donated to them, it's theirs to do with as they please. Was it realistic to expect them to move to an unfamiliar city?

I think the church would have been better off just donating cash to a needy family, and let them determine what to do with it. Even better, spread the cash out amongst a number of families.

PS. Christi Paul is hot. :D

No, but they were told they were going to be given this home with the understandings it would be theirs to live in.
They robbed a whole bunch of other people who I'm sure would have moved and stayed there in a minute.

If the church was that interested in the ultimate fate of the house, they should have instead offered the family free rent with the opportunity to earn the house through interest-free payments down on it. But they gave it away to complete strangers.....morons.

Just goes to show why giving things away is never the answer. It should always be earned somehow, for in the act of earning something we appreciate its value and cherish it all the more. That and you know you won't get screwed by a con artist.

Really good point Daulf, that's why I so agree with the habitat for humanity projects.....the needy are given the oppurtunity to live in a nice place, not just handed to them.....

I don't normally agree with Cobster, but his anger is righteous. For this, I will agree.
Those scum bags took advantage of a bad situation. May they rest in hell while the devil himself sodomizes them with his pitch fork.

Disclaimer* I'm not even religious. LOL

No anger, just like it when people keep their words and are straight up front.

Never knew we disagreed on things, but hey, fuck it, variety, spice of life or some shit. ;)
