Well, that was a crappy second half! LOL

Probably the worst of the season. Ah, well, thankfully it's not the playoffs yet.

I agree, I think Tellqvist should get some time, but it really wasn't Kidd's fault tonight - the defense from the D and forwards just vanished. Hey, give Buffalo credit - two come-from-behind wins in two nights - they looked hungry.

Too many bad calls by the ref didn't help, but the Leafs certainly did most of the work on their own on this one. :(

I'd agree, wholeheartedly. Of course, there aren't too many teams that could live long with their backup goalie in the playoffs. Speculation around the city is going to be absolutely RAMPANT over the next couple of days regarding Eddie's back. :(

hehe No worries, Kat.

The TB game, Kidd was LOUSY - I find myself disagreeing with much of what Frost has to say after the games. He was out of position - as in, ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE CREASE - on every goal in that game.
I don't think Kidd's played very well - that's an understatement. I just don't think tonight was one of those games that was his fault. Too many Sabres standing around the crease waiting for passes or looking for pucks to stuff in .....

Yes, the double minor on Renberg was one of the calls that stuck in my mind as baffling, although the Marchment kneeing penalty seemed thin, and perhaps the Berg cross-check, which he seemed to really pull up on. So, yes, too many bad calls - but what else is new - the refereeing this year seems to fluctuate between marginally acceptable and outrageously bad. This one was closer to the former, but only because other games have been so poorly officiated. Again, the Leafs should look within for the reasons for this loss, and not at the refereeing. ... But, it was still bad.

The PK was bad, and they did little to limit Buffalo's chances after the first - the Sabres had 21 shots over the final two periods - clearly, either they weren't suffering that badly from playing the night before, or Toronto wasn't shutting them down.

This wasn't Kidd's fault. It was a team effort. But, it's only a regular season game. I don't think the Leafs were planning on relying on Kidd in the post-season anyway, so nothing new there. Whether or not Belfour's healthy is another question entirely.

There, that wasn't so bad. ;)

There's room for concern on the Belfour situation. Who knows with the Leafs? I suspect it's an "upper body injury", which would be a euphemism for "sore / bad back" I suppose .....

I agree that your goalie is your best penalty-killer, although that's a bit of a cop-out because he's your most important defensive player in *all* situations. The PK will come back around.

way out in left field
This could also be another case of inflaming the rumors in the case of belfour's back. While it could be bothering him, it would make the other teams think differently if he was just resting it. Keeping him out of non essential games could be in preparation for the playoffs.

I thought Kidd had a strong 1,5 periods, he made some dandy saves but what got me thinking "oh shit" was when I saw him panting away after some close plays. Maybe he's running out of steam halfway through the game? I dunno.....I agree tho, put telquist in for a couple, he did well at the beginning......

Kathleen - I would have to say Kidd was not at fault tonight. At least not for goals 4 and 5. Did you see the passing by the Sabres on those. Even you or I would have scored being so open and so much time. Where was the D on those?? They looked lost and totally out of place. And to say a 4-1 win for Toronto is off also because the first 3 were nice goals and would
not give credit to the Sabres where it is do. You sound
tooo much like a homer and not objective enough.
Don't get too fixated on Kidd.

The Sens kicked some ass tonight and are coming strong. The Leafs better watch out as Belfour is having back problems. Personally I would rest Belfour for 2 weeks minimum, maybe 3, to make sure the back issue is licked for the playoffs. Giving up standing position now is better than exiting early in the playoffs.

n_v - Frankly, *you* sound like toooooooo much of a homer. 4-3-0-1 in their last eight is "coming on strong". Dude, I know you like the Sens - just don't let it go to your head, alright? We already have one of those, and it's defective. :)

Ranger68 - Sens have won 3 in a row after the break, while the leafs have been at .500. I know it is only 3 games but the Leafs have slipped a little, while the Sens defensive lapses and Lalime's plumbing problems seem to have been repaired. Add to this Belfour's back problems and the Leafs don't look to be sitting so pretty. So take your head out of your ass and look at the reality of what is before you. :)

Kathleen - Kidd was in net when you were praising the Leafs for that 'amazing' game in Ottawa last week. Well, he held the fort after they went down 4-0 in that one. This shows that he is not all bad. Tonight the Leafs D let him down BIGTIME. So many chances and goals that went in with not a blue shirt in the camera shot to cover the Sabre.

5 straight goals , 4 of them in the 3rd period, then Reichel scores on his own net ..... hehehe .... priceless ..... ROFLMFAO !!!

Hey Eddy, rest up that 39 year old back Bud ... hehehe. Kidd is shakier than a hula dancer ... hehehe.

All night the Leafs' coverage fell apart and they were trapped up the ice allowing odd-man rushes .... hehehe.

Good game guys ... hehehe.

Sitting here in Buffalo, I saw too much of Leafs puck chasing and getting out of position, leaving Kidd out to dry.
Perfect example was the Curtis Brown goal. Dumont draws three Leafs. Brown all alone in the slot.

Bopper,
No doubt Kidd was shaky but Toronto sucked in front of Kidd. Quinn agrees.

n-v - 3 games isn't much of a sample, so why don't you try to think about things a bit harder first, hmmmm? The Sabres have won their last two games by scoring 14 goals. Oh oh - there's another contender in the East! Look out - the Sabres are coming on strong!! ... Please.

Sure he kept them in it when they when down 4-0.. But Umm, who the heck do you think got them down 4-0???
You think 4 goals or more a night is holding down the fort? You think 4 goals against or more is "Not all bad"..ack! A GGA of 4.00 sucks! You will not win games like that. Not even the Avs could.

You have totally confused me as to how you think Kidd was not all bad in Ottawa, or TB, or tonight.. How about the 7-1 and 5-1 loses to Philly and Ottawa before? I don't have it in for Kidd, but I need something valid. Where's the Tylonol?

Kathleen
It's okay, Kat - don't worry - Kidd played terribly in those games - you're right. Some people just like talking without knowing anything.

Yup - too much running around and too little knocking guys on their arses.

Now, in defense of Kat's position, I'm certain that Belfour might've stopped some of those that they did score - of that there's NO doubt.

The Belfour injury is troubling.

It is time to play Telquist .Get Kidd out of town spends more time shooting his mouth off than stopping pucks

Yup - I really have NO idea why Tellqvist isn't being played, other than the possibility that Quinn just wants to have Kidd ready, just in case ..... Frankly, that possibility scares the bejesus out of me. :(
