Hey all,

It seems because the event is across the pond today, the St Louis bar and grills and Boston pizza's are not showing the UFC event as they both said they took a beating in attendance last time it was in England, that being said does anyone know a bar preferable in the west end that is showing tonights card..more so looking for the rebroadcast at 10 pm

Downloading it right now....
From what I read from the Sherdog Play-by-Play...it looked like it was pretty entertaining....
Almost all the fights ended in the first or second round...Only two decisions in the whole event....
Can't wait to see the Penn/Stevenson fight....

Lots of quick KOs and TKOs...

Best fight was the Penn fight...
Penn looked sharp...Stevenson was dominated by Penn....
Looking forward to him fighting Sherk....and then maybe fighting GSP....

The other fights were not exactly the most technical fights but you got to see some good KOs....

Like the Hardonk/Robinson fight.....Dutch Kickboxer showed some really slick leg kicks...

Kendall Grove...Pretty big disappointment....The TUF winner is going downhill fast...First Cote and now Rivera....His stock has plummeted with the UFC....Maybe he can fight Leben....

Even though Penn is my fav fighter in the UFC I didnt expect it to be such a one sided match. Penn is really deceptively strong and hits hard. He manhandled Hughs in their 1st fight then out striked GSP until he gased. Now he manhandled Joe (which shocked me).

IMO Penn won the fight vs GSP but it was close.
I think if he keeps training hard and eating right he'll beat GSP if they fight again.. GSP is amazing though

I always did think Kendall was overrated.

IMO, I disagree. :)
in penn vs st-pierre, bj won round 1 after gsp got a thumb in the eye.
gsp regrouped & took 2 & 3 though it wasn't a landslide.

people are talking about penn vs gsp again because penn wants it, but dana white & the ufc want penn to clean out the lightweight division as champ before he even considers going back up to 170. (read that on www.mmajunkie.com)

it would be the next big super-fight if they both continue on the paths they're on.

feb 4th, ufc will officially announce the april 19th card in montreal.
stay tuned!

Yea, youre right JD. As I recall Penn gassed/coasted in the 2 & 3 round and GSP kept the pressure/pace on him (but didnt hurt Penn) so GSP did clearly win based on pressure and pushing the fight. The next time Penn vows he'll be in better shape and wont gas.

I do remember after the fight GSP's face was banged up and Penn looked like he wasnt in a fight. And that was a out of shape no drive Penn doing that to GSP. If Penn stays focused, trains his conditioning he could beat GSP.

Either way it would be a great fight since GSP is better and MORE aggressive then when they 1st fought.
IMO Dana needs this fight since it would draw such a huge crowd.

I think what won that fight for GSP was his takedowns....
He took Penn down both in the second and thirds rounds (even though he didn't do much with it after)....That was enough to secure the victory....

If the points were based on the damage inflicted....Penn would have won that fight...
GSP had to be taken to the hospital after the fight and Penn went out and partied...

Penn wasn't really marked up in his fight with GSP.
But he also wasn't marked up in his loss to Hughes. (Hughes finnished that fight with Penn in an Americana landing clean blows to his face).
This leads me to think BJ's face is made of rubber.
I love BJ's style...he's one of my favorite fighters...but I still take GSP in a rematch.

Yes, Penn's face is unreal, you just can't mark it up. I would rather see him dominate lightweight for a while, and only move up once he has beaten all the legitimate contenders.

The only problem is that after Sean Sherk there aren't any other legitimate LW contenders....

Though there are rumours that the UFC is trying to sign Gomi.....still plenty of great LW fighters (and Heavyweight fighters) not signed by the UFC.....

Frankie Edgar, Spencer Fisher, Roger Huerta...
none of these guys really match up well with BJ Penn, and not necessarily right away, but they'll be contenders if they continue to progress the way they have.

Sherk annoys me. I can't wait to see BJ smash him.

I also agree with that he should clean out the division before pitching to fight GSP. He might as well dominate his division for a bit, establish the legacy with a pile of title defenses. (he didn't get to do that with the 170 belt years back).
