Full of surprises
I thought Pettis would easily beat Dos Anjos. I was so wrong. But I think Khabib will easily win the title if he beats Cowboy Cerrone. At this time I don't think the American fans want a Russian champ.
I also thought Overeem's glass jaw would shatter, but his defense has definitely improved. Roy Nelson needs to lose some weight if he wants to starts beating top opponents.
Hendricks has gone back to the style he criticized GSP for doing lol.

Nelson vs. Overeem - Wasn't overly pumped for that fight, but was impressed by improvements Overeem made to his game.

Hendricks vs. Brown - Glad Hendricks won, don't mind how he did it. The UFC pressures wrestlers into being more 'exciting', and wants them to just stand and trade with everyone.
I thought Hendricks offered a little of everything in that fight. Some strikes, amazing takedowns, smothering G&P. He need not make any apology, for this is MMA not boxing.

Esparza vs. Jędrzejczyk - Total shock of dominance, great fight.

Pettis vs. Rafael dos Anjos - After Rafael destroyed Diaz in the manner he did, I was pumped for him to win the belt. Figured he had a solid chance to win, but was worried about the speed and power of Pettis.
The very idea Pettis would spend 5 rounds either glued to the cage walls, or the floor, shocked me. Wicked fight!

Nice card indeed.
Uncle Dana didn't like Johnny's win

Some really dominant performances at the event.

Overeem is definitely listening to Jackson as he has revamped his style to be more cautious and less reckless. More cerebral if you will. Man he's so technically sound and fun to watch. Don't think he will last more than two rounds against JDS though.

Nelson sure has got a granite chin I'll give him that. He took some vicious kicks and knees but didn't go down. But he's a gate keeper at best that doesn't offer a problem for the divisions elite. He gets hit a lot.

Didn't Brown once say that he could out wrestle GSP?...Hendricks fought the safe fight taking the match to his strength's but as was stated he hasn't finished a fight in a while. Dana needs to put a lid on it. These guys are under enough pressure as it is without him adding his 2 cents.

Pettis said he couldn't see out of his right eye after the first round. If that was the case then that might explain why he was getting tagged so much and taken down almost at will. He still an amazing talent however. It will be interesting how he rebounds from here.

As for Rafael dos Anjos. Well let's see if he beats the post fight PED tests. He sure has had a career resurgence as of late. He of course credits Jesus but I have my doubts.

Esparza although a legit fighter was just a paper champion really and it showed against the much more well rounded Jędrzejczyk. Jędrzejczyk was very impressive in all aspects and could be in for a long run in her division.

@ Twizz - I'm not shocked. When Henricks in a post conference once said he didn't go 100% (probably trying to avoid gassing out ) Dana ripped into him, and said "Maybe you should have". Dana could care less if doing so meant Johnny had burned out and been pounded, he just wanted happy fan$.

@ Oracle - Totally agree. I think it was UFC 167 GSP beat Henricks, and said he was stepping down. Dana was brutal in the post fight saying Hendricks won (despite GSP landing way more), and that George owed it to the fans.. the belt... the company to not walk.. that doing so was.. and he faded out.. but sure he was going say it was BS.
Its for that night, I hope GSP never comes back. He owes Nobody anything. No of these guys do. They put it all on the line for such modest earnings.

Thought the same about Rafael, and sure hope he passes. The sport has seen too much of failed tests recently, and I'd really like to see him (RDA) be on a level playing field.
If only Hendricks could pull a Joe Thorton and come out and say that Dana needs to shut his mouth.

That would be as the kids say ''epic''. But last I checked there are no guaranteed contracts in the UFC and it's pretty well the only game in town.

So they just have play the game and kiss butt to get ahead.
