Ubuntu is moving right along with the next upgrade after 8.10.
Windows7 releases a beta version next month while Ubuntu will release Jaunty Jackalope a couple months later......stay tuned.....

Ubuntu 9.04 to be named "Jaunty Jackalope"

Taken from ZD News:

The Ubuntu project has detailed plans for the April 2009 version of its Linux distribution, continuing its habit of naming its software after animals by dubbing Ubuntu 9.04 "The Jaunty Jackalope."

The news comes as the project last week made available an advance testing version of its Linux distribution, Ubuntu 8.10, the "Intrepid Ibex," which is scheduled for release in late October 2008.

I am running 8.10 on my desktop and I couldn't be happier. Wine seems to be working a lot better now for running Windoz apps too.

This is a funny video of sorts, for nerdy guys anyways.

Nice video on Ubuntu.

8.10 is running great on my antique P2 desktop.
Mainly like it for being able to safely surf anywhere on the web without worrying about picking up any viruses, malware, spyware etc. The only problem I have is Ibex knocked out my HP printer, it worked fine with Hardy. Seems this is a problem with Ibex. To print I have to switch to XP or plug the printer into the laptop running Vista/Hardy.

I really liked how they improved Rhythmbox by putting Last.FM as one of the default online radio stations. When you pick an artist to play it gives a whole list: song title, artist, album, play time, of all the selections so you can easily track the music down....plus it's all commercial free.
