Competition for taller, riskier rides + less regulation as traditional transportation (air, car, etc.)

Wow - I feel bad for that woman and her family. Her poor son, having to witness that. Horrible. Prayers for the family.

The Texas Giant is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas. It is the tallest steel-hybrid roller coaster in the world at a height of 153 ft (47 m) which features a 79° drop of 147 ft (45 m), and turns banked up to 95°.[2] The coaster uses a brand new type of all steel track which results in the Texas Giant no longer being a solely wooden roller coaster. The redesigned ride is a steel-tracked coaster with the original wooden support structure[3] which enables the ride to be much smoother than it was in previous seasons.[4] In addition to new track, the Texas Giant also received new trains and a new control system.[5] The coaster reopened to the public on April 22, 2011 as part of the park's 50th anniversary celebration.[6]

This fucking shit always happens at least once over the summer, including Canada.

Kinda like the air show tragedies too.

May she rest in peace.

Good thing I'm too scared to go on these fucking things.

if the safety latch didn't work, I'd have held on for my dear life.. I'm sure it isn't too hard.. its not like this roller coaster does crazy 360 turns or so... The girl probably tried to enjoy the ride with her arms raised high while the coaster was going down ><

I won't go on behemoth at Canada wonderland because I hate the restraint they use. It's I click down bracket the goes down against your legs. But there's no back up to it. No manual seat belt bolted to the frame of the car and no exterior manual latch that I can see keeping the bracket down. You're supposed to trust that this bracket won't pop up some day by accident or defect. Not me. I don't trust it.
