He's got to be one of the most contraversial figures in sports history. If Cus D'amato had not of died so early on in his career I feel he had the makings of being one of if not the best fighter of all time. Instead he was his own worst enemy and never fulfilled his promiss.

Agreed.

Becoming the youngest heavyweight champion at age 20 had more to do with weak talent in his weight class rather than his boxing prowess.

Despite his excellent hand speed and good power, he always had difficulty putting away much larger heavyweights (i.e. Green, Tucker, Ruddock, Douglas).

He was a good fighter for his size but definitely wasn't in the same league as Fraser, Ali, Foreman when they were in their prime.
