It wasn't too difficult. From what i gathered from the story, one of the culprits turned out to be the girl she was doing incall with at that apartment. I suspect the guy pretended to be a client at first and they turned on her once he gained access inside their apartment.

Seriously, criminals really aren't like they picture them in movies. In general they seem to be dumb, greedy people.
