I have not seen an episode of Two and a half men for a while. What has happened in the plot. What is the explanation for Charlies disappearance and why does a new guy own the house and allows Charlies brother to live in it if he is a billionaire?

That was the episode that I saw after not seeing any for a while. My guess is that the kid is not funny to the story line and is being written out or sidelined. If he is to come back into the series, they have to explain his return with the explanation that he was rejected by the army.
You've haven't missed much. Not even half as entertaining as the oringinal IMO.
I watched the first 4 new episodes and it sucks! Basically after charlie died (in a car accident i think) Alan came home and found some billionaire guy Walden (Ashton Kutcher) wanting to kill himself in the ocean. Alan saved him and took him in. Walden heard the story and bought the house and offered for alan to stay. Blah blah blah, Alan and Jake are still mooching. Walden has a hot english GF and a bitter ex psycho wife. Alan keeps trying to find ways (like faking heart attacks) to stay while Waldens new gf finds ways to get him out. Jake is a pot smoking dumbass who apparently just joined the army. Ok I maybe watched more but the ads for upcoming shows give it away. I miss the mom and Berta.
I'll admit - the first episode without Sheen was funny - they had a funeral for him and took some good swipes - Rose pushed him infront of a train while they were on their honeymoon... If you can find it online, probably worth watching the furneral scene.

I haven't watched a minute of it since - the whole Ashton Kutcher thing didn't work for me... Charlie Harper was an awesome sleeze, mainly because Charlie Sheen IS an awesome sleeze...

I dont think they are gonna take Jake out of the series, I think once the new season starts he will be back. Im pretty sure that all 3 of them signed on for another season. Kutchers making 750,000 an episode. Also think its funny that they made Jake into a huge pothead, his scenes when hes high are funny as hell.
Still seems to be pulling in some decent numbers. Simpsons went down hill over 10 years ago and it still chugs along. At long as the main actors don't get too greedy I could see this being another zombie show that just won't die.
I still watch it, it is OK but if this was the first season, I don't think I would bother. Nasty Hobbits.
To be fair, 2.5 men was starting to suck in the last few of the Sheen seasons. Based on that the show isn't actually worse than say season 7 or 8. It however didn't get better either, missed the chance to have new life blown into it.
I also dislike Kelso... and yes it is Kelso.
It jumped the shark when Charlie stopped his womanizing and settled down, first with Mia then Chelsea.
