TORONTO (CP) - Who better to judge the Miss DownHome Pageant than Newfoundland-born actor Gordon Pinsent?
"Mr. Pinsent brings the kind of much-needed dignity to a contest that involves bikini-clad women dancing fiddle jigs," says Sheryl Snook, organizer of the DownHome Show at Toronto's Variety Village.
Pinsent has agreed to join a panel to judge a beauty pageant at the festival of East Coast food, music, culture and arts to be held April 28-30.
He won't be the only East Coast celebrity at the festival. Mr. Lahey and Randy from TV's Trailer Park Boys will also be on hand to help judge a Bubbles look-alike contest.
A portion of each ticket sold to the show will go to Variety Village, which was established by the Variety Club of Ontario to help disabled youth with special needs.
