I have, and to be honest I felt safer there than I did on the TTC. First off thier system is more efficent and a hell of a lot cleaner than the TTC.
There are over 4000 NYPD Transit Cops , most of them riding on the transit lines as opposed to what 118 TTC Special Constables..many of which are driving around the city in cars.
Don't even try to compare the TTC to the NYC Transit system.
Nothing you can say effects my feelings as I do not run the TTC however...
While I only saw a part of the NYC transit for a couple of days what you say goes against what I saw
Subways smell of urine and saw a prostitute give a blow job to a client on the train
Drivers do not like giving directions, sometimes refuse as they do not have to.
Neither do the TTC drivers, they could always claim it distracts them from safe driving end of story, but they do out of courtesy.
Saw three card monty players - they ask you to pick a card then move them around then ask you to pick out the same one after they palmed it-beat up a sucker who wanted his money back and drug dealers although they were technically just off the property , they would not disappear when the cops came they would just stop what they were doing until the cops, completely aware of what they were up to, walked on by
Saw the NYC cops drive by a knife fight as well
I will say one thing for the NYC transit they make sure everyone pays full amount .Instead of the user friendly openess of the TTC the NYC feels like a prison with their high fences
The TTC has just added buses and extended the hours of their routes . Goal is to wait no longer than 2o minutes, most routes shorter time, except night buses which is a 30 minute wait.
TTC does not need 4000 cops
Why do you feel the TTC is dirty and inefficient. The one thing that stands out to me is the effort they put in to assure all buses are running on time although there is a shortage of buses that sometimes shows up during rush hour when a bus goes down. Bus shortage is not the TTC fault.
