Hello all, first time ever trying to book an incall yesterday and I ran into the same problem with probably 10 different SP. They would all require me to text them once I arrived in the hotel lobby. Now for a normal person this is no problem but I'm one of the weirdos without a cell phone so I told them I didn't have a phone and they all told that it wouldn't work since I couldn't text them once I arrived. Does anyone know why they wait for you to arrive in the hotel lobby before telling you their room number? Is there someone who works with them that watches people entering the hotel or something?

I used to have the same problem. There are a very few that will give room numbers before, but they are rare.
Options? You could try a spa. Otherwise, use an iPad (as I do) with a free text app, like talkatone, and use wifi (like a coffee shop or the immediate environs of many hotels).

they are just trying to minimize giving out room/apartment number to as few people as possible. Fairly standard procedure. Use a laptop or tablet in a nearby store offering free wifi
Safety issues.Some minorities of SW have a pimp/security , but as nothing to do with not wanting to give out hotel and room/buzzer apartment. Most of us have a 2 systems, that you get the general location or hotel and when you arrive you get the buzzer/apartment or room number. Thats almost universal across the boards. Too many time wasters out there, plus if you are late, something happen etc, there is no way too contact you
I wouldn't book with someone who doesn't have a cellphone, without them having strong references from providers that I know and maybe a deposit
Years ago I would accept if the person called to get the room/apart number from a pay phone but there is so few around nowadays that's not an option

Just get a cell phone. If you don’t want to get locked into a plan, get a burner phone, and pay as you go. Cost is minimal. People who have next to nothing in third world countries have cell phones. As Malika says, it’s basically SOP to call/ text when you have arrived before you get the room details (back in the day it used to be from a pay phone nearby so they knew you were there). They want to be reasonably sure you are there and going to follow through with the appt before you get the final details.
I have a phone.. Just no contract. Never felt like I needed a contract to be honest since I have wifi at home/work. I guess i'm a cheapskate hehe.
Now, I thought that basic SMS texting was included with the voice plan, that you don't need data for that?
Your very first message you said you didn't have a phone. Now you are saying you have one??? If you don't have a text plan then you will just be charged the standard sms fee, which is like 20 cents per text. You only need to send one text to the provider saying you haved arrived!!

LOL so it'll cost him 20 cents to text? Is the 20 cents an issue for the client? Maybe we can all throw in a quarter

if you have a phone that you use just off wifi, then you can use the hotel’s or nearby wifi to contact the provider.
Sounds to me like you’re just looking for tips on how to circumvent someone’s screening, which requires you to have a phone number.
Let all SPs be advised:
"don't expect a tip from this guy"
Dude, if you can afford this hobby, you certainly can afford data.
Is this really necessary? The guy has told us what his problem is, and we've given him advice about it. He can now go and work with our advice or not. What's the point in now accusing him of having some hidden agenda just because we can't believe he doesn't have a cell phone plan in this day and age?
