Trump's motive for taking back the Panama Canal is pure vengeance. Years ago Trump had a Trump branded Hotel in Panama where he was in dispute with the legal owners of the property, there was a stand off where Trump's people barricaded themselves in the office and refused to leave. In the end, the legal system sided with the legal owners of the property. The hotel was re-branded and Trump had no legal recourse to pursue damages. Even though Trump would have no possibility of taking the Panama Canal back for the united States, he may put pressure on Panama to offer better passage fees for American ships using the canal. Failing this. Trump would still make political points with MAGA supporters. It would look like he is trying to do something for his country and Make America Great Again.

Is PBD supporting taking over Panama Canal?
Asking as I dont wanna waste 20 mins of my time listening to this twat. lmao.
Yes, he is claiming Trump is 100% correct to demand more say in the canal or take it over for security reasons. All 4 twats believe Trump is right on the mark with Greenland, Canada and the Panama Canal.

" In this PBD Podcast clip, the gang dives into Donald Trump's comments on retaking control of the Panama Canal, addressing its historical, economic, and geopolitical significance. They discuss U.S. trade interests, China's growing influence, and the potential global impact of reclaiming this critical asset. "

Trump says something dumb.
And their job is to intellectualize it and make it look thoughtful.
They think other countries exist only to serve Trump lmao.

There has been the term "sane-washing" to describe how Maga world distorts and rationalizes the ridiculous statements to try to twist them into something borderline in touch with reality.

Trump’s grandiose proposals, such as annexing Canada, reclaiming the Panama Canal, and purchasing Greenland, can be likened to the rhetoric of Quebec’s separatist movement. Both rely on bold, unrealistic promises designed to appeal to their base rather than achieve practical outcomes. Trump’s motives appear centered on boosting his personal image and consolidating power, with little genuine intention of realizing these ambitious goals. Similarly, past Quebec separatist leaders often used independence rhetoric as a means to gain influence rather than genuinely striving for full separation.

In Trump’s case, such dramatic posturing could serve the additional purpose of seeking a nearly unattainable third term, potentially shielding himself from legal consequences. However, the feasibility of these proposals, particularly reclaiming the Panama Canal, is nonexistent. Any attempt to do so would require formal negotiations with Panama, a nation that gained sovereignty over the canal through a treaty ratified during President Carter’s administration. Reclaiming the canal, whether through diplomacy or military force, would irreparably damage the United States’ international reputation and violate foundational principles of international law.

On the global stage, Trump’s actions and statements often fuel perceptions of him as erratic or detached from reality, reinforcing skepticism about his capacity for effective leadership.
