Quote from Henry David Thoreau

A government which deliberately enacts injustice, and persists in it, will at length ever become the laughingstock of the world. (“Slavery in Massachusetts”)

Trump is not going to have a legacy. I think once he's out of power, or maybe after he dies (or both), both the Dems and the GOP will erase him. Sure, he'll be remembered for a disastrous war in Iran that had no point, or his failings dealing with COVID, or the whole January 6th insurrection. But a positive legacy probably sailed away back in August of 2017 when he said there were good people on both sides....

GOPers who supported him will pretend they never did. They will suddenly have backbones and vote to take his name off everything. His legacy is going to be him crashing the US economy not once, but twice, and maybe even Epstein.

And, finally, this Iranian adventure reminds me a lot of the UK and the Suez crisis from the 1950s. They basically had to back the fuck out of that mess and were massively embarrassed. And, not only that, it results in their military power being seriously curbed. As many have said, Everything Trump Touches Dies, and the US is just the latest and biggest thing.

Of course trump will have a legacy, he will be remembered the way hitler is remembered.
The question is whether this is the end of the american empire or whether it goes further down this evil empire road.

american hegemony is done - trump has lost every ally, including Canada.
petrodollar - this is the basis of the economic empire, as Iran moves the world to yuan and euros so goes america

This year will be a massive shitshow. We haven't even seen the real repercussions of this war. The last of oil shipments are just happening and industry is still running on old supplies. Add in a super El Nino and we are looking at serious crop failure with farmers globally being hit with fertilizer and diesel shortages.

I meant to say a "positive" legacy. His eight years in office will not be looked back on favourably by historians. It's one of the reasons why I felt he tried so hard to get Greenland and Canada as part of the US, because he'd be able to say some bullshit like he unified North America or what not. But, he has no follow through and cannot plan ahead. He is a dude who gets caught up in the moment and then has to walk shit back. But, he is certainly the captain of a Titanic USA, one that has already hit an iceberg, but is downplaying the damage as it continues to steam ahead as if everything was normal...
