Looks like South Korea has confirmed that a Chinese delegation was sent to Washington to meet with the U.S. Treasury Department. China demanded photos be deleted lol. Maybe its hard to trust Trump but you definitely don't want to trust the CCP.

The CCP likes to operate behind the scenes. They are not fans of cameras and media unless it is a carefully orchestrated affair that benefits them. Besides just because they are talking to each other doesn't mean any sort of deal will be reached
China knows they have to deal with Trump one way or another...as long as it doesn't hurt their economy, they will make that deal....a lot of posturing is going on because China is very unstable right now politically...showing weakness will be catastrophic for Xi but at the same time, he can't NOT make a deal that would hurt their economy.
