Idiocracy at play.

Donald Trump Jr has arrived in Greenland, two weeks after his father repeated his desire for the US to take control of the autonomous Danish territory.

Conservative MP Rasmus Jarlov posted on social media in English that "this level of disrespect from the coming US president towards very, very loyal allies and friends is record-setting".

President-elect Trump said earlier on his Truth Social social media platform that his son, and "various representatives", would travel to Greenland "to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights".

Trump added that Greenland and its people "will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our nation".

"We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside world," he said. "Make Greenland great again!"

The US purchased Alaska and have done an admirable job developing that state. Alaskans are FAR better off for the purchase.

Proposing to purchase Greenland is no different. Probably the best thing that could ever happen to the people who decide to stay there (I'm sure many would leave for Denmark or elsewhere rather than become American citizens).

This is not a hostile takeover (either militarily or otherwise). It's a business proposal. Denmark is free to say no. However, they do say that everything is for sale at the right price! Denmark has not done much with the place under its stewardship. It makes sense to sell it to someone who knows how to properly develop it and can thereby afford a big purchase price.

We should buy Alaska.
Maybe that could pay for the US buying Greenland.

Denmark has already said no.
And if they want to sell it to someone who knows how to develop it, then that categorically rules out Trump.

If that happens maybe we can finally get control of Hans Island and end the Whiskey War.

Trump isn't proposing to buy it personally. The same companies that transformed Alaska know what could be done with Greenland. Denmark lacks the capital.
