It's the person. I've never had a problem meeting women, so there's never been a need for me to call an escort or play with the lot lizards while on the road.
for someone who is always on the road, your not in one place long enough to develop a relationship and if you do it never lasts because your always away. An sp is perfect for when you want sex, you just call for it. And a happy operator is a safe operator. So SPs can be creditied for keeping our highways safe, to some extent. Driving down the road playing with your own willie can be a hazzard to other motorists.
I think you're right. I used to travel 2-3 weeks a month doing consulting work. There were very few places that I went that I did not see SP's. It's one of the few things about regular travel that I miss (in fact, I can't even think of a second thing that I miss
