I'll be heading to HK in early Oct for about 4 days. I hear the first couple weeks is actually holidays so it might be hard to book hotels.

But my main question is which city is the best to stay in? I'm mainly looking for the city with the best nightlife. I've heard Causeway Bay and Wai Chun? are pretty good overall, but really cant decide.

Any recommendation on city, hotel to stay in?
Good Clubs, nightlife areas to goto?
I definitely want to goto a karaoke bar, have always wanted to see what it like, anyone been?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks

HK side:
Wanchai has a few good bars, but mostly rip-off bars with ugly and old Phillipina women.
Causeway Bay is good for smaller bars, very young crowd and very Chinese.

Lan Quai Fong is a definite must-see (Central). Bars and restaurants in a 4 block area, lots of westerners and locals alike. Soho is also worth a visit, north of LQF.

Kowloon side:
Knubsford terrace is basically a street filled with bars and restaurants, worth a visit.

As for Karaoke bars - Should go into China for that. 1 hr. train ride but a ton of difference - in terms of talent and bang for the buck.

As for hotels that depends on what you want, ranges easily from $$ to $$$$$

Different districts of HK http://www.hkta.org/eng/attraction/index.jhtml
Most of it reachable by MTR, their subway. Tip: buy an Octopus pass.

Office in T.O. or call for package in the mail.

Been a while since I was there. One site I use for my booking was

Few T.O. tour packagers like TourEast with good discount rates if you get airfare from them.

I enjoyed both HK & Kowloon side. Depends what you'll be doing. Tourist tend to cluster around TST & Causeway bay with name brand stores. Hotel there also charge more but not uncommon for good deal on less busy weeks.

For something different, take a stroll thru the night market.

Macau is up & coming Vegas East, if you have time.

Enjoy HK.
(If you see Berlin, remind him there's life beyond Google & Pacific mall)
