I thought Trump declared that this was over

The same Oregon high school that came under fire last year for allowing a transgender athlete to compete against girls continues to blow away the competition one year later.

Ada Gallagher, running as a 10th-grader at McDaniel High School in Portland, finished in first place in 200M and 400M races during the 6A-1 Portland Interscholastic League Championship in 2024.

Now an 11th-grader, Gallagher was back on the track for a Portland Interscholastic League meet at her home track, where she was spotted blowing out the competition, especially in the 400M, where she finished more than seven seconds better than the rest of the field.

Gallagher finished at 57.62 in the 400M, with Franklin High School's Kinnaly Souphanthong coming in second at 1:05.72. Gallagher's teammate, Quinnan Schaefer, was behind Souphanthong at 1:07.13.

Then, in the 200M race, Gallagher finished in first place at 25.76, followed by teammate Addyson Skyles at 27.31.

Both times for Gallagher were season records.

As the video of the races began to circulate on social media, commenters began to speak their piece.

"That experience must be so demoralizing for those girls," one X user said. "…You'll look back later and be much more infuriated, especially if you have children of your own." Another added, "The girls should all just start refusing to run and it will soon end."

The Oregon School Activities Association, the governing body for the Portland Interscholastic League, has a gender identity participation policy that "allows students to participate for the athletic or activity program of their consistently asserted gender identity while providing a fair and safe environment for all students."

"As with Rule 8.2 regarding Duration of Eligibility / Graduation, rules such as this one promote harmony and fair competition among member schools by maintaining equality of eligibility and increase the number of students who will have an opportunity to participate in interscholastic activities," the rulebook adds.

President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14201, better known as "Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports," was signed to "protect female student athletes, in the women’s category, from having to ‘compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males.’"

When Trump signed the order last month, Oregon Republicans were delighted, with House Minority Leader Christine Drazan saying she would introduce a bill to rewrite policies in high school athletics.

Why bother running the race in the first place??

The future of the whole world rides on which high school kid wins a race. The NCAA has (had?) single digit trans people out of the half million athletes.

You guys keep pretending to have a conversation about and I'm happy to do so but I've asked a few times but none of you want to give your definition of "man" and "woman" mean so we can get going.

A man has a penis, and a woman has a vagina. What is the point of women with Vaginas training hard for a running race, when a man with a penis wins the same race by 7 full seconds.

In other words, why should women even bother to train for these kind of races at all, when they know that a man with a penis, will be in the same running race as these women are??

I hope I've cleared things up for you......LMAO

There is the whole X and Y chromosome thing. You know. Science? And the plumbing?

Thing is those two definitions are contradictory. There are XY people who through either epigenetics or other genetic mutations develop female genitalia and even a condition where there were fully functional uterus and ovaries (real life Arnie in Junior).

I have no concept of how gender fits under a scientific construct but sex is far from binary. Even though the vast majority of people are easily categorized as male and female, there are enough cases where primary, secondary sexual characteristics, the genes they are based on, or the epigenetics that impact the development of sexual characteristics create people where their physical characteristics doesn't match the presence of XX or XY.

So the numerous people who are genetically XY but have a vulva and levels of testosterone more commonly found in men can compete as a woman in your world?

I get that there will be a very small number of guys who are willing to live their lives as a woman simply to win a medal but far, far more do it the old fashioned way...PEDs.

In my world and more importantly in Trump's world. Women born with Vaginas, compete in women's sports, and men born with Penis' compete in men's sports. That's it. Very simple to understand!!

Transgender women, according to Trump can compete in men's sports if they want to, or start there own transgender category if they want to. What transgender athletes can't do, is to compete in women's sports!!

Ok, sure. Tell you what. Let's just eliminate gender categories in all sports. Period. Olympics everything. And that includes competition for scholarships, and all the NCAA money. Total level playing field. Its all fluid now. So no need for them.

Same in MMA and Boxing.

Let's see what happens.

According to Trump, that's what's going to happen!!

In other words male gender and female gender, nothing in between. Just like in the 1950's and 1960's. Back then you were either male or female. That's how it's going to be going forward. No 500 types of genders like two-spirit etc, and none of these dumb pronouns like they/them, and she/her etc. Those days will soon be over, thanks to Trumps executive orders, that he recently signed!!

What percentage of the population falls into this category? And, do these trans "winners" fall into this category, or are they just regular XYs?

Man has balls (even if they were cut off). Women, no balls.

There are many women who have genetic physical advantages over other women.
When Serena Williams started beating everybody, they accused her of being man like.
More recently there was a female athlete who was falsely alleged to be male because of her masculine looks.
Similarly Michael Phelps has genetic and physical advantages over other men and other fellow swimmers.
So men are stronger than women or have a genetic advantage to be more athletic isn't always such a good argument and I think this issue is more complex than people make it out to be.

Hey, if you are going to have competition that involves very real stakes and money involved then having a level playing field is important. No different than weight classes in boxing.

But it is clear that trans men converting to women have a real advantage. And with money on the line this is going to cause problems.

Imo they should not be allowed to compete in woman's divisions. And there is no "right" to compete. It's a privilege.

So you are comparing women to other women, and Phelps to men? Huh ...

Yes, so even within the same gender one could make the argument for genetic advantages.
So clearly the argument for trans people having a genetic advantage over women just because of their physical composition is not the strongest argument.

The playing field is never level.
Even if only cis people compete in a sport, some have genetic advantages over the others.

Clearly. So let's eliminate gender based sports completely. Let all men and women compete together. That will make this whole argument moot. What say you?
