NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in the Bahamas say John Travolta's teenage son has died after injuring himself at the actor's vacation home.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Mackey says 16-year-old Jett Travolta hit his head in a bathtub Friday morning.

He was declared dead at Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama Island.

Jett was the oldest child of Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, who also have an eight-year-old daughter.

A spokesperson for the hospital in Freeport said she could not release any information because of privacy concerns.

The teenager had last been seen going into the bathroom on Thursday and had a history of seizures, according to the statement. Police said they are planning an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Another police spokeswoman, Loretta Mackey, said Jett apparently hit his head on the bathtub.

I'm no John T fan, plus the scientology cult is just plain creapy but I feel for his loss, as a parent. I can't imagine what it is like, nor do I ever want to know.


That is sad to see when a child dies like that.

Not necessarily so I when I was younger I had a history of fainting spells and had test after test to determine why. One time I had cut my forehead badly on the bathroom vanity while I was only brushing my hair.

Only once did it turn into a seizure type incident though. The funny thing is it was right after a doctor apt. finished to see if my Mom took me immediatly in right after a fainting spell if they could determine the cause. We had just left the office when I had the seizure and I finally got my revenge on my sister by kicking her in the chops in the back of the car. (We used to fight lots and she was 6 yrs older than I.) Needless to say my Mom did a U turn right in the middle of the street. The tests after that is what was the scariest.

With fainting the body goes pretty limber and usually you do not get hurt. I know I took quite a few easy falls down stairs and came out no worse for wear. It is with seizures though if someone is around you should protect the person.

I am not a huge fan of the Scientology stuff, however if John Travolta gains some strength knowing he does have many fans who are prying for his family, then thats good

We were talking about this last night with some friends, since I heard it on the radio earlier in the day.

I guess he has a history of seizures to his "kawasaki" disease...

Don't know if JT and his wife Kelly believe in prayer (due to their Scientology beliefs), but there will be many fans praying for them none the less.

Very sad... No parent should out last their child.

Yeah, I read that as well... They said he could get better if he worked harder at becoming a more devout or "better Scientologist" or some BS like that... Sad... very sad.

I TOTALLY agree... My fav scene of her's was in Jerry Maguire- when her character and Jerry (Tom "shrimpy" Cruise), were doing it and she cums ecstatically and then she says "you know I am not really into it, but if you ever asked me to "be" with another woman, I would..." or something like that... VERY HOT!

She also looked extremely good in "Twins"...
