Is it just me or has the city decided to put every major artery in this city under construction at once? Why can't the city gang tackel projects with all their crews 24/7 and finish them one at a time? And the cops hired to stand there while the crews work, why can't they direct traffic so it flows?

I have to drive from client meetings in Brampton back to downtown Toronto at rush hour 3 times weekly. This trip usually takes 30-40 mins. but at rush hour it can be upwards of 2 hours. Statements I have learned to fear while listening to traffic reports on the radio are any accidents on the 407 east, 427 south, QEW/Gardnier east and 404/DVP south. One night last week there were accidents on both the 427 south and the 404 south, YIKES. I enjoy listening to Q107 but Carly Classin's traffic updates are pretty useless, although she sounds pretty hot..... Somewhat insignificant ramblings from Dabbler

Be happy you are not travelling the other way at the same time!

Probably for a couple reasons.

1. Because the city can't entirely close down a major highway during rush hour.

and

2. It's probably not a matter of manpower but rather the fact that it takes time to fix a stretch of highway, no matter how many people you throw at it. You can only lay asphalt so fast.

It'd be nice to fix everything in one shot but I think the reality is we're tearing up our highways faster than we can repair them.

Hey Hambone, I've been doing the rush hour drive home from Brampton for 4 years now and every year there seems to be less difference between traffic volume coming into and going out of Toronto, often traffic is moving more quickly leaving the city. I'm guessing that the high commercial taxes in Toronto are partly responsible for this situation forcing business to take advantage of more favourable tax rates in outlaying municipalities like Markham, Mississassuga Richmond Hill and Brampton. Unfortunately for me driving is a neccessary evil of my job but I regularly contemplate finding work closer to home while snailing along at 20 km per hour. Cheers for now, Dabbler
